10 Ways to Be Present in your Child's Day

Do you spend enough of time with your child every day? Read on to learn about the top 10 ways to be present in your child’s day.

We as busy parents often take the help of the television or video games to keep our kids occupied so that we can complete our own tasks without having to bother about the kids. But this only takes us distance away from our kids. This makes us lose sight of our kids until they end up getting in trouble and need the help of the parents to get them out of that trouble. But if we spend some quality time everyday with our kids they feel the warmth and affection and they happily entertain themselves without disturbing their parents and they take care of other relationships positively. Here are some of the ways discussed how to be present in your child’s day.

1. Make Eye Contact

Kids want your attention and if you continuously ignore them they feel unwanted and insecure. So always make eye contact whenever your kids come up to you with a question. Even if you are not in a mood to answer their questions look up into their eyes and politely tell them that you are busy at that particular moment and will answer them once you are free.

2. Join Your Kids in Their Fun Moment

When you find your kids in a joyful mood, busy entertaining themselves, join them in their play. Pretend that you are not getting what the game is about and ask them to explain. They will happily take the initiative to explain the game to you.

3. Calm Yourself

When you find your kid misbehaving it is natural that you get angry and lose your cool. You start yelling at your kid in a fit of rage. At this point of time it is important that you calm yourself first and then talk to your kids. Explain them where they went wrong and what you expect from your kids.

4. Let Your Kids be How They Are

The innocence of the kids makes them different from adults. So let your kids be like how they are, let them mess around and for the time being keep your adult agenda to a halt. Let your kids live a full life.

5. Share Memories

Take out those old family albums and share your memories with your child. Point out the members of your family and ask your kid if he remembers them. Sharing memories together will be a real fun. Tell your kid some stories of your childhood while both of you look at the photos.

6. Read Out a Story Together

Take out your children’s favourite story book and read out together. This will urge their interest in reading and will also improve their vocabulary. This will allow you to spend time with your kid doing something productive.

7. Set a Family Time

Set a time everyday when all the members of the family need to be together. It may be at the dinner table or sometime after finishing your dinner and before going to bed. An interacting session between the family members about how was the whole day is very effective for your kid to understand everyone.

8. Ask About the Day Activities

Bed time is the best time when kids open up. So before going to sleep ask your child how was his day. Share with your kid if anything special happened to you or ask him about his whole day activities.

9. Exercise Together

Start your day with exercising together. Make it a daily routine to wake up early each morning and doing some exercises together. This will make your child feel attached to you.

10.  Teach your Child a Simple Chore

Teaching your child a simple chore will be helpful to you as your child can help you in whatever ways he can. It will be a relief if you get a helping hand however minute it is.

Try to spend as much time with your kids so that your kids do not feel neglected. Let them feel the love and warmth of their parents.
