Diet- As a rule eating a balanced diet is absolutely essential for general well being. Particularly when you are trying to conceive you must consume plenty of whole grains, green vegetables, and low-fat dairy products. Folic acid and iron are important nutrients which are required by a growing foetus to develop. Hence, it may be worthwhile to start taking these nutritional supplements in addition to having food rich in iron and folic acid.

Exercise - Another rule for general well being is regular form of moderate exercise. Exercise is useful to keep the body fit and the mind stress free. Physical exercises help the body to release stress which is one of the main fertility challenges. It also improves the blood circulation in the body and functioning of the various organs of body including the ones of the reproductive system. Exercising at least for half an hour everyday for three days a week will do the trick to keep your fit to have a baby.

Do not Smoke- Smoking is something that women must quit if they are serious about having a baby. Smoking not only affects fertility, but also adds to the risk of miscarriage, placental damage, and low birth weight.

Consult a Fertility Specialist - It is best to see a doctor or a fertility specialist if you are over 35 and considering have a baby. Younger women normally consider medical help only if they are unable to conceive even after trying for a year. Instead of waiting for a year it would be worthwhile for older moms to get themselves checked for any medical causes that may causes problems in conceiving.

Male Fertility Factor - Many a times the male partner may be having certain fertility issues which can impact pregnancy. Although male fertility is not linked to age, basic tests to ascertain sperm count and motility will cover the risk factors responsible for male infertility.
