Frequently Asked Questions

Q: We have recently put our daughter in a new school. Its been a month now, but she has still not adjusted to the new place. She refuses to go to the school and sometimes complains of stomach ache. She has always been a healthy child, but since the time we have shifted her in this school, she keeps getting fever, vomitting, etc. She also urinates a lot. When we consult our local pedatrician, the medicines he gives us relieves her illness, but then she again catches them. What is the cause of this sudden and repeated illness. Her new school is big and very hygenic.
Vijay (Mumbai, India)

A: Since you have mentioned there is a change of place, this could also psychologically affect the child. This will be temporary. Just ignore it. He will get over it as he gets new friends and gets used to the new environment

Q: My son is very afraid of going to school. He likes to constantly be in a familiar environment, or wants someone to accompany him in school. What should we do? Should we physically force him to go?
Jigisha (Delhi, India)

A: Never use physical force on a child. Let him get adjusted to school gradually. Try and make school sound like an interesting place, where he can have a lot of fun.
