Values to Teach Your Son Before He Turns 13

Teaching your son to learn that it is more important for him to act according to values and his beliefs in life is one of the most important tasks for parents. Learn about the values that you should teach your son before he turns 13.

Honing values in your son should start at an early age, for sure. But there are certain values that your child should learn and possess before turning 13. This is because he should be aware of the things that might happen after he enters his teenage.

Prepare your child to accept all kinds of changes along with the hormonal changes in life whole heartedly. Let him understand and get introduced to life and skills needed to become a good man. Life is a learning journey and let your child get introduced to the values you want in him at early childhood itself.

10 Values Boys Should Imbibe Before Turing 13

Here are 10 values which you must inculcate in your son before he turns 13.

1. Humility

Like any other parent, you want your son to succeed in everything he does. Help him be a humble person so that he accepts other’s contribution and achieve whatever he deserves.

2. Dependability

Help your son to be looked upon as a dependable and reliable person especially for the ones who are near and dear to him.

3. Grit, Self-Confidence And Diligence

Train your son to turn out to be a determined, confident and hardworking guy to achieve his goals. This will also let him stay filled with energy always.

4. Be responsible

Now is the time you should teach your child to know that when a job is assigned to him, he should set his mind to doing it. He should learn to complete his work in timely manner so that when he grows and gets employed, he will not have to face difficulties and embarrassment.

5. Respect others

Your son should by now understand how to respect others especially elders and women. He should understand that elders are there for a purpose in his life and that he should respect and obey them.

6. Trust parents

Since your son is going to enter teenage, he must be having a lot of things in mind that mom and dad are not allowing to do. Try to lay a foundation of trust, love and communication so that your son believes in you that whatever you are doing is for his good.

7. Take care of his body

Teach your son the importance of nutrition and exercise in life. Educate him so that he stays away from junk food and binge eating. Let him understand that this might hurt his teenage body, but it definitely has impact on health afterwards.

8. Have patience

Your son might be a restless guy by now and losing his cool every now and then. It is high time you taught him to be patient because youngsters cannot be patient for a long time very easily.

9. Be honest

Being honest with self and others would make your son a trustworthy person. Let him understand that an honest person stays happy and sleeps well which means he would be having less worries and stress in life.

10. Be adaptable

Often rigidity comes in the way of progress, be it academic or character development. Teach your son to become strong enough to deal with any situation without being rigid.

Apart of the above mentioned values, teach your son to be kind to himself and others. This will not just make him successful, but also make him loved by all. Make sure he listens, absorbs and thinks before acting and does everything with self-discipline and strong instinct.

Raising boys and girls is not different. The only difference is that boys should be taught how to take care of women in his life, his mother, his sister, daughter etc. Likewise girls should also be taught about her responsibilities towards her parents and family.

Respecting women and given them same status as men is one of the important values that should be taught to all boys during early childhood.

I agree with you Palak. This is the most important value that should be taught to boys right from the beginning so that they do not mistreat women.
