Developing her individuality

The child slowly begins to understand that she is an individual in her own right, as opposed to being an extension of you. She will expand her horizons, realizing that she is not the focal point of the universe. The development of a child’s individuality does not happen overnight. Every child will take her own time in discovering her individuality.

Signs of early maturity

She will learn to put others first, displaying spontaneous acts of generosity and unselfishness. She will become more sensitive to the feelings of others, exhibiting sympathy and concern. She will move on from mere imitation to learning through "identification." She will understand the meaning of putting herself in the other person's shoes.

Parents can play a major role in helping children discover their individuality. School teachers and friends also play a role in helping children develop their individuality to a certain extent. Here is what parents can do to help the transformation of a child into an individual.

Be a good role model

Children learn everything from their parents. Therefore, it is a must to be a good role model for them. During their growth years, their grasping power is also very good. They are very good observers so they can immediately grasp what they see and what they hear. So, parents should act wisely and use their words wisely in front of their children.

Inculcate good manners

It is very important to inculcate good manners in children. Good manners are very important aspect of one’s personality. Children with good manners are appreciated everywhere at the same time good manners are very important to be a well balanced individual. When they recognise their individuality they must be aware of manners that are followed while talking, eating and doing other things in day-to-day life.

Cultivate discipline

It is very important to help children to imbibe discipline. Discipline is very important for walking the path of success. Children should learn to follow discipline in each and every aspect of life in order to live life as a successful and happy individual.

Teach good values

Teaching good values is equally important. Inculcating values in children is very important for shaping their character. Values that they will learn in their childhood will also play an important role in helping children walk the path of success. During the testing times, values can help children take right decision. How they act in a particular situation will be determined by their beliefs and values that they learn in their childhood. They can have clear goals if they follow right values in life.

Help them differentiate between right and wrong

It is extremely important to help children differentiate between right and wrong. However, only preaching is not enough, you must set right examples for them in order to help them understand what is right and what is wrong. Understanding the difference between right and wrong will help them make proper choices in life.
Parents should make sure that they follow the above mentioned parenting tips for helping children transform into a well-balanced adult. Above all, parental involvement in the life of children is extremely crucial. While raising children, spending time with them and knowing what is going on in their life should be given a top priority. Remember that children are just like clay and giving them right shape is completely in the hands of parents and it is their prime responsibility as well.
