The Impact of Childhood Years on Your Child's Future

Childhood Years

The future of children starts taking shape during the childhood years itself. These years are the most important years of child’s life which determine their future. Read on to learn more about the impact of childhood years on your child’s future.

Childhood is one of the most important stages in a person’s life. At this age they imbibe everything around them. What children learn, hear or see in their childhood leave an everlasting impression on them. How a child will be is determined by their childhood habits and behaviour.
Childhood is a formative age. Children learn to see the world. Their brains develop and they start to understand about the things around them. How their childhood is has tremendous effect on their future years. Scientists all around the world have agreed that what children see or experience during their childhood moulds their view of life. Whether a kid is happy or sad, peaceful or aggressive is determined by the kind of experiences they go through during their formative years. Some ways by which childhood years shape the future are:

1. Behaviour

It has been found that the behaviour of any adult can be traced back to their childhood. In very rare cases we observe that the behaviour of a person has undergone drastic change from what it had been in the in his or her childhood.
The child is the father of the man is a common saying. A child’s behaviour during their childhood is largely determined by their external stimuli. It is observed that children of happy houses rarely become aggressive. They are happy during their childhood and grow up to be happy and positive. While children coming from broken homes come off as reckless and exhibit violent behaviours. The kinds of circumstances in which children grow up largely affect their adult characters.

2. Learning

Children need to be educated in simple matters from their very childhood. Parents should speak clearly for the child to learn speaking properly. Many children are late in learning to speak because of the fault of their parents.
Parents must also make an effort to groom their kids from a young age. They should be taught the numbers, proper pronunciation, the numbers, etc. It is not a good idea to wait till primary school education. Throughout childhood parents should infuse in the kids the need to perform well. They should also introduce the kids to various
co-curricular activities.

3. Manners

The type of manners kids imbibe and learn in their formative years stay throughout their adulthood. Good or bad, they cannot be altered when the person is older. If a child is rude and does not know proper manners, it is because their parents never taught them.
Parents should teach basic manners like table manners, how to speak politely, to await one’s turn, etc. They must also learn to say, sorry, thank you, welcome and the like. Proper manners are extremely important in adult life.

4. Passion

The passions that kids taste in their childhood stay with them throughout their lives. Most of the famous personalities, be it scholars or sports people had loved doing what they do from their childhood. Kids who are encouraged to read voraciously turn into lovers of literature. Kids who had been playing sports from their childhood often take that up as careers. It is the same for musicians, painters and the like.

5. Relationships

The kind of relationships kids had with their parents and other relatives affect their relationships in future. Many kids who saw their parents get divorced and quarrel apparently can never able to form steady relationships. On the other hand, kids who are products of blissful conjugal relations form relationships more easily.
Hence, it is important to groom your child well. Avoid exposing them to disturbing things that can leave a mark on their adult life. Try to bring them up in a happy and peaceful situation.
