Birth of Prophet Mohammed

Prophet Mohammed was born to Amina in 570 A.D. He was born in Mecca in Saudi Arabia. He belonged to the Quraish tribe. His father Abdullah passed away before he was born and mother when he was six year old. He was looked after by his grandfather Hazrat Abdal Muttalib then. His uncle brought him up as a successful and respected merchant.

Important milestones in his life

Birth of Prophet Mohammed was a great gift given by Allah to all the Muslims. Here are some of the important events of the life of Prophet Mohammed. (p.u.b.h)
Prophet Mohammed's first revelation
Prophet Mohammed used to meditate in the caves of Hira in a mountain called Mountain of light. This cave was close to Mecca where he used to meditate frequently. It was the holy month of Ramzan when he heard a heavenly voice while meditating. He heard the voice saying "read" three times. He replied "I cannot read" twice and when he was asked third time he said "What can I read"?
This conversation gave the gift of kindness and humanity to the mankind. The heavenly voice asked him to read to humans to show them path of right conduct. He was asked to read the teachings of Allah so that human beings could find the way to paradise. His readings would make the common man come closer to God. This was experienced by him at the age of forty. The heavenly voice which asked him to read was Gabriel's (angle's) voice. This conversation made him realise that he was the last messenger of God.
The beginning of his spiritual practices
According to Allah's message, he started preaching his family and friends in the beginning. His first follower was his own wife Khadija followed by his cousin Ali, servant Zyad and his friend Abu Bakr. However at the beginning some people in Mecca considered his preaching as worthless.
Consequences faced by Prophet Mohammed while preaching
Prophet Mohammed had to face lots of consequences while he started preaching. Some people regarded him as a fool and some even humiliated him to great extent. He was opposed by many as his preaching was directed towards abandoning idol worship. He had to face oppositions from the people who worshiped multiple Gods. However, he was supported by some foreigners and the downtrodden.
Prophet Mohammed's immigration to Medina
Though Mecca was his native city he was in danger after the death of his wife Khadija and uncle Abu Talib. His opponents were after his life so that they could stop the spread of Islam. The strong tribes in Mecca wanted to assassinate him. At the same time many of his followers from Medina came for pilgrims and to meet him. The number of his followers in Medina was increasing day by day. He encouraged the rest of his followers in Mecca and immigrated to Medina.
He accepted the invitation from the twelve important clans from Medina to become the chief authority of their community. He was also protected physically by them. Prophet Mohammed played an important role in bringing up Medina as the first Islamic state. He leaded Medina not only religiously but also politically.
Last sermon of Prophet Mohammed
His last sermon was known as 'Khutbatul Wada'. During this sermon he addressed a large number of people. It consisted of all the issues regarding following the path of truth and righteousness. The soul objective of his sermon was to encourage people to spread Islam. He expected people present at the sermon to spread the teachings of Islam in much better ways. He explained a way of life that a Muslim should have during his last sermon. He told people that they should walk on the path of righteousness even when he is gone.
Death of Prophet Mohammed
Prophet Mohammed died after ten year of his emigration to Medina in 632 A.D. Many of his followers were unable to digest the fact of his death. Before this he performed two months of Hajj and he fell ill after his pilgrim. He preached Islam until the last moment of his life.
Prophet Mohammed is immortal in the hearts of all Muslim and even some non-Muslims. He dedicated his life for spreading Allah's message. He handed over to this world full of sinners the Holy Quran, the gift of Allah. Through his preaching he was successful to make Islam an immortal and unique religion throughout the world.
