10 Snacks You Should Never Allow Your Kids to Eat


Allowing kids to eat junk and processed foods frequently can prove risky for their health. Here is a list of 10 snacks which you should never allow your kids to eat.

When it comes to your child’s health you should always be cautious that she eats healthy foods. Processed foods should be avoided as far as possible. Though these convenient and packaged foods are easily available and save a lot of time, these foods cause serious life threatening diseases. Here are 10 of those processed foods and snacks given which you should never allow your kids to eat.

1. Potato Chips

Do not allow your kid to munch on potato chips whenever she is hungry. It is one of those worst things that you feed your children. It contains a lot of fats and added flavours that are detrimental to the health of your kids.

2. Chicken Nuggets

The yummy chicken nuggets that adults too cannot hold on their temptation to have are pieces of compressed fat, high fructose corn syrup and sodium, all of those are harmful for your health. Even the pieces of chicken sometimes are the ground pieces of the skin of the chicken that are pressed into a shape, added flavour and batter fried to take the forms of these yummy chicken nuggets that everyone loves to eat.

3. Hot Dogs

This processed food is a popular snack for kids. It contains carcinogenic nitrates and nitrites, a lot of saturated fats, sodium and on the top of that it contains artificial colours and fillers as well. Kids love to barge on these processed foods and researches have shown that kids eating these processed foods have high risk associated with leukaemia and other life threatening diseases.

4. Pizzas

Just as Hot Dogs, Pizzas have also gained a lot of popularity with the increasing number of shopping malls and Restaurants. The processed meats like sausage add fats and harmful nitrates to these processed foods. The topping of cheese on the pizzas adds more calories and fat than a kid actually needs.

5. Canned Juice

The canned juice available in the market makes tall claims of being 100% original fruit extracts. But most of these canned juices contain added flavours and preservatives. It also adds a lot of calories from sugar. It can cause tooth decay in kids apart from obesity.

6. Doughnuts

The cute doughnuts are hot favourites of kids as well as adults. It is a popular snack during leisure. Some people associate doughnuts as a great stress buster. But the ingredients that come along with this doughnut are not at all good for your kid’s health. It contains fat, Trans -fatty acids and on the top of that it contains a high amount of sugar.

7. French Fries

The fat used to fry these French fries are generally trans-fat that is the unhealthiest kind of all. Despite being the unhealthiest of all these French fries sell hot everywhere you go. And truly saying it is very hard to control the temptations to have these. These are harmful foods that you should stop your kids from having. The content of acryl amide which is a cancer causing agent is found in French fries when high starched foods like potatoes are heated in a very high temperature.

8. Sugary Cereals

Sugary cereals are a popular item for breakfast for kids. Kids love to see how the colour of milk changes into pink, yellow and chocolate after dipping these cereals into the milk. They do not understand that this is because of the added colours in the cereals that are detrimental to their health. As responsible parents you should stop feeding your kids with these cereals.

9. Fruit Candies

The colourful fruit bites that your kid loves to eat are actually dough of colours and sugar. They hardly contain any fruit extracts. So avoid giving these to your kids.

10. Milk Chocolates

Chocolates are great kid pacifier and moms keep it ready in their hand bags whenever their kids start throwing tantrums at them. These are nothing but unhealthy fats that you are giving your kids to munch on.
