Dads Looking to Adopt a Child

Dads Looking to Adopt a Child

Why do men adopt? A man or a father looking for adoption was earlier unheard of but is now common. Various factors are responsible for a man looking for adoption. In this modern society, adoption by men is common place. Due to modern lifestyles gay marriages have also become the norm so such couples adopt to complete their family. The other common reason for adoption by men is the guilt consciousness. Read on in detail.

This is a very common social situation where the man looks to adopt a child. There can be a lot of personal and social factors where the dads whose children had been up for adoption with their consent are actually trying to get back their lost off-spring. This basically stems from the fact that fathers are now realizing the fundamental role played by the dad in the rearing of the kid. This has inspired them to seek their children or just adopt a kid.

When do Dads Want to Adopt?

It has been observed by clinical and social psychologists that dads who come forward to adopt mostly belong to the middle age or the elderly group. It is mostly the fear of illegitimacy that makes a man lose his off-spring and then when they miss the kid in later life, they want to adopt.

Under age Sex

It has been found that a lot of under age girls in the early or mid teens get pregnant by their boyfriends. The families disapprove of the match and make the boy and girl to stay apart. The girl is rounded off to some far land and there she gives birth and the baby is either allowed to be adopted by some willing couple or put in an orphanage. Later both the boy and girl carry on with their life and some years down the line, the dad now feels that he wants to own the responsibility of his child and seeks to adopt.

Left Pregnant Girlfriends

Fathers also seek to adopt children when they have consciously ditched their girlfriends when they were pregnant. Adoption comes as an option to become accountable for their act and even apologize to their own conscience.

During Wars

It is also during the wars that men have to leave their pregnant girlfriends and after the birth of the child in some unknown place, due to the social stigma attached with an unwed mother, the father does not get a chance to meet his off spring. It has been observed that most men who seek to adopt are soldiers who had been to the war during the birth of the child. They now want to adopt a child in the hope of getting reunited with their long lost offspring. They might also consider adoption to free themselves out of the guilt consciousness.

Solitary Life

It is mostly past the middle age that dads realize that he might die without even knowing their child and they are in a hurry to adopt. It is hardly possible that they indeed get in touch with their kids but this is more of a psychological exercise that the dads are happy and willing to undertake. They want to rear a life with all love and care and dream of a fulfilling life in their autumn years.

Modern Society

Men seek to adopt when they choose to remain single or are gay. Men choose to remain single for a variety of reasons. They can range from career reasons, frequent traveling requirements, unable to find a desired match in a woman, commitment phobia or a mere desire to retain independence for life. But sometime during the middle years, they wish to have a family with a kid. This is when he seeks to adopt.

Then, if the man is gay or in a gay marriage, the man wants to become a dad, he opts for adoption.

This is indeed a positive side of the modern society, because otherwise people are accustomed to find moms searching for their lost kids when they decide to adopt.

nice write up. sometimes men do also want to adopt as in case of gay couples. now even single men are adopting so adoption is not a gender based issue.
