5 Things Your Daughter Must Know

Your daughter must know certain things so that she can face the world confidently and become a strong woman when she grows up. Have a look at the 5 things which your daughter must know.

From quite a tender age, girls are exposed to certain very misleading media messages like “Beauty is equal to being thin” or “You can be happy if you have these pair of shoes”. Such messages are everywhere, newspapers, TV or social media sites.  As a parent, there is a huge responsibility that you must shoulder which entails giving life lessons to your kids. But if you have a daughter, you need to tell her some specific things. One must go through this article to have an idea of the 5 essential things that you must tell your daughter.

1. Learn to Say No

Of course it will be awkward when you get a “NO” for an answer from your little daughter. But they do need to learn it for the greater good. Starting from boyfriends to beers to photos in social networking sites, problems will follow her everywhere. Teach your daughter to deny something in case her inner self does not feel it the best thing to do. It won’t be easy to say this word, but at the end of the day your daughter will be happy that she did.

2. Inner Beauty is What Matters the Most

Women and girls like it very much when someone compliments them about how good they look in a particular dress. But this should not be the ultimate desire of your daughter. If she does, she will have to meet with bitter experiences in the future. It is good to be proud of looks. But good looks can be justified only when someone tries to be kind and compassionate towards other human beings. So to sum up, if your heart is not beautiful, you are basically as good as ugly.

3. Learn to be Content with What you Have

Your daughter may be very interested to buy the latest skateboards, designer clothes, wallets or even cool headbands. As a mother or father, you need to make your daughter understand the fact that things do not last forever, they break or perish over time. Sometimes they are lost and at other times they become antedated. True happiness comes from taking pleasure of things already in possession, not in those that need to be acquired.

4. Do not Trust Everybody

Talk to you daughter about how important it is to choose good friends. This is because some girls or even boys can be really envious, mean and harsh. In fact some of them will do everything in their power to pretend to be friends only to back stab you in times of need. Certainly, it will smash your daughter’s heart into several pieces.

5. Be Aware of What Others May Think

Although you teach your daughter not to judge someone by their looks or attire, 10 out of 10 times the world will judge her. There is no escaping it. So you might want to tell your daughter the possible opinions of others when she goes for a job interview or for lunch with her prospective life partner’s parents with a pierced tongue or with blue dyed hair.

Apart from the tips mentioned above, you can also teach your daughter the importance of personal hygiene and taking care of skin by applying sunscreens or wearing light clothes. You may also like to tell her the importance of taking care of a pimple. When left alone, pimples can become infected resulting into a scar or scab across a person’s face. Since sports bras are a part of new age fashion, your little one may be tempted to wear them from a very young age. Let her know that you keep a track of her physical growth and that you will definitely inform her when the right time arrives for her to wear bras. The issues related to physical growth of a girl child can be handled by her mother.

Which things should be taught to a girl child? How to teach a girl child about personal hygiene? How to talk to a girl child about the possible threats lurking around her? Discuss here.

Daughters are like flowers. We must protect them like a flower. All petals will fall if even one petal falls.
