 I wet the bed (I'm talking soaked) all of my life. I don't think I stopped at any time other than a day here and there. My parents tried everything to help me stop. They tried the alarm and I slept right thru and of course wet big time. My parents limited my fluids as well as putting a dollar in a jar for when I'm dry and take one out for when I was wet. I never made any money. I just lucked out and ultimately stopped around the age of 20 although I continued off and on until I was 27. Even though for the most part it was out of my control, if I had already wet the bed I would just let it go the next time. I was already wet. There was no reason to get up.

 There are some extremely interesting and revealing comments here on the problem of older children and adults having to wear nappies. My son developed nocturnal urinary incontinence when he was 17. It was a shock for both of us and started for no apparent reason. Reluctantly I put him in a nappy before he went to bed and then removed it - usually wet - the next morning. Not surprisingly he felt very ashamed at being treated like a baby. Over the next year he had occasional "accidents" during the day at school which meant he had to wear a nappy at all times. He also developed faecal incontinence although this was usually anal "leakage" rather than complete soiling. His incontinence is worse when he is stressed or depressed. He is now 22 and continues to wear disposable nappies at all times. He is studying at home and I change him several times during the day and put him in a clean nappy at bed time. He wears two disposable nappies for added protection and for long train or car journeys I put plastic pants with elasticated legs over the nappies as an extra precaution against leaks. This must sound a rather grim existence for both of us but in fact we are now perfectly used to him wearing nappies and being changed. Neither of us worry as it has become a natural part of our lives and proves that adults can live a normal existence being incontinent and having to wear nappies 24/7. In fact, changing my son’s nappies each day has brought us closer together and I feel we both like the fact that he has become dependent upon me in this way. I also admit that I tend to treat him at times like a baby (which he enjoys) but does not stop him from being an adult away from the house. My son needing to wear nappies has introduced a richness into our relationship which would otherwise not have happened. I recommend parents embrace their children's incontinence and teach them there is nothing to be ashamed of in having to wear nappies.

 my daughter does not like to go to the toilet todo the big job.she is 5yrs. old she will hold on to her stools for 2or 3 days & then do it quietly do it under the table or in a corner.sometimes it is painfull as the stools are very hard ,but she bears it.we have shown her to the pedeatrician but there is no respite

 it is sad that the child is teased and screamed at when she herself is feeling miserable..i did that till iwas 14yrs but as soon as i got my periods i got rid of my peeing in bed. same goes with my nephew he used to wet his bed till he was 15 but then it stopped. i used to feel so miserable that it was a shame ful thing i used to hide it from everyone. i specialised in picking up my beddings and dry them in sun i was lucky i was in rajasthan,we need to tell our kids that it is ok that they wet the beds but very soon it will be over.i think i used to wet the be djust because i was tense not to wet the bed every night.be a patient mom my 4 1/2 yrs old daughter wets the bed but i try and be as cool as possible with her. i don't want her to feel bad at all.i remember it very clearly what it was to wet the beds.i never lived happily

 my younger sister had a problem with bed wetting at age 5 that was for her easy to fix. the doctor told my parents nothing to drink after 6 pm and wake her up around 11 or 12 and physically take her to the toilet. it was not until she was 10 years old that the reason for the bedwetting came out. she was being sexually abused by the our care givers boyfriend. fortunantely it was only outside toucing and her virginity is still intact.

 well i live in ireland, i am a 21 years old male, that is working full time in a retail shop like alot of other people and i have wet my bed all my life. now i have tried everything to get rid of this cause really when you reach 13 and are still wettin the bed you have no life with your friends cause you cant stay in anyones house or anything. it is a horrible thing to have but there are so so many people out there that have it and no one ever talks about it cause really, my parents helped me as much as they could but nothing helped, i am doing a relaxsation thing for the past 6 months, it is workin the odd time which is better than never working. but please to all the parents that have kids under the age of 12 please!!!! stop saying help my son/daughter is 2 years old and still wets the bed, more than likly your child will stop by 15 the latest! but do go to the doctor and ask as many questions as you can with your son or daughter. and please if anyone would like to ask me any questions about this i will be more than happy to help cause i know what it is like to wake up in the morning with this problem. thank you for reading. gerry.
