Top 10 Things Which Parents Hide from Kids

There are certain things which parents do not want their children to know. Parents feel that knowing such things may have bad impact on children or may spoil them. Read on to learn about the top 10 things which parents hide from kids.

Being a parent is one of those toughest tasks. You always want your kid to grow healthy, strong, and get the best possible start. You being a parent expect your kid to speak the truth always. You cannot take their lies. But are you always truthful to your kid? No, you are not. Because you do not want your kids to be bad, you want to protect your kids and give them a healthy life and happy future. Have a look at the top 10 things that parents usually hide from kids.

1. How Babies Are Born

You do not want your kid to know the experience of getting him or her to your arms from the womb. You must have told your kid that you brought him or her from a hospital, he or she has popped from your belly, or a stork had brought him or her.

2. After Your Baby Sleeps

You declare bedtime for your child. Is it bedtime for you too? No! You will party, watch TV, and work more – after your baby sleeps. You do not want to disturb your baby’s sleep and you want your kid to follow a routine life so that he or she gets good amount of sleep.

3. Junk Food at the Back

No junk foods; eat the veggies – this is what you want your kid to eat. But at his or her back, you will bite on the cheesy crusty pizza, chocolate chip cookies that you have hid in the closet. You want your kid to have the nutritious food every time and always.

4. No More TV

You limit your kid’s TV shows scaring him or her that TV will spoil the eyesight. You hide the truth – you have your own shows coming up on TV, which you do not want to miss. But of course, you also want your child to finish his or her studies and play games rather than watching TV.

5. Alcohol and Smoking

If you are taking hard drinks or smoking, you definitely do not want your kid to know the same. Kids look up to their parents and grow up, so it is a complete secret that you do bottoms-up with your glass of On-the-Rocks or lit a cigarette.

6. Coffees Stuck Growth

You hide yourself while having coffee. If your kids want coffee, you tell that it will stop growth. You tell him or her to instead drink milk that will make him or her strong and tall. All you want is to cut down caffeine intake from your kid’s nutrition.

7. Preschool Projects

When your child asks where his or her preschool projects are, it becomes difficult for you to hide. You loved all his or her drawings but as you clean your junk folder, you also have to trash your kid’s preschool projects.

8. Eyes at Back

You do not want your kid to know that you do not really have eyes at your back. If your kid sneaks in the kitchen and grabs a chocolate cookie, you notice as it gets less in the count, but tell your kid that you have seen him or her sneaking it as you have eyes at the back of your head.

9. Code Language

You hide discussing whether it is about feeding chicken nuggets in a row, or going to the park, or getting some toys or anything that you do not want your kid to know unless it is planned.

10. One-Two-Three

You yourself do not know what threatening scenario you should frame after you count the magical number – three. But you want to scare your kid and want him or her to do what you are asking for in a count of three.

These are the few things that you constantly hide from your kid, but always remember, do not lie. If you want to hide something feeling that it is not the right age for your kid to know that, then go ahead, but do not give a false reply, try not to lie! Make your child understand the fact in age-appropriate manner.

Do you keep secrets from your children? Why is it important to hide certain facts and things from children? Is it correct to lie to children to hide certain things and facts? Discuss here.
