Shopping Tips for Pregnant Women

Shopping Tips for Pregnant Women

When you are pregnant your body goes through a lot of change and sometimes it’s fascinating to study the different phases that your body will go through. While some changes will thrill and excite you others will have the exact opposite effect. Gaining weight during pregnancy is one of such inevitable changes.
The changed structure and shape of their bodies is one of the major reasons why pregnant women have to go wardrobe shopping at least twice during the duration of their pregnancy. If you are pregnant and are contemplating going shopping then here are some tips to help you make the right choices.

Shop for Loose Flowy Shirts

Loose flowing silhouettes have an automatic streamlining effect on the body. A long loose shirt will flow away from the abdomen and leave a lot of room for further growth. Invest in at least 3 long loose shirts which you can pair with maternity jeans, Capri’s and straight fit long skirts.
Ideally the shirts should be solid coloured as too many busy prints will only draw attention to your expanded body. A good choice would be to buy shirts in white, navy blue, black, bottle green or charcoal brown. These colours are versatile and these shirts are going to last for the entire duration of your pregnancy.

Shop for ‘A Line’ Dresses

The ‘A Line’ dress is a great option for pregnant women who want to continue wearing dresses at outdoor events or on formal occasions. Choose ‘A Line’ dresses which have a seam right under the bust and offer a lot of extra space for a future bulging tummy. This is a very dressy style and can be worn to parties, brunches, day gatherings and outdoor events. Two good quality ‘A Line’ dresses; one each for day wear and night wear occasions will serve you well. Choose dresses which end just a little above your knee as they will make you look slimmer and cuter.

Shopping for the Perfect Bra

The shape and size of your breasts is definitely going to change during pregnancy and the change will persist during the time that you are lactating. Some women say that the first signal of change in their pregnant bodies is the tightening of their old bra due to the swelling in their breasts. There will be enough reasons for you to go bra shopping after delivery but arm yourself with some new Bras during pregnancy too. Buying 3-4 nursing Bras is a good idea as you can use these both after and before your delivery.
In case you buy bras for the first two trimesters of your pregnancy try on the inner hook for fit as your breasts are going to grow in size. When you buy bras for the last two trimesters of your pregnancy use the outermost hook for fitting yourself or else try the bra extender. This is because your breasts will shrink once you lose the baby fat after delivery.

Buy a Belly Band

The Belly Band is made up of stretchy material that can accommodate your fast growing pregnant belly. Wear the band over the pairs of unzipped trousers or jeans that do not fit you anymore and see what excellent camouflage it offers. The Belly Band is aptly christened as the fashion staple for all pregnant women. Seek advice from your doctor on how to wear it. However, if you are not comfortable with the belly band avoid wearing it.

Shop for Shoes

Remember that now that you are pregnant you have to stay away from heels. Flats and comfy boots are the best option. If your feet have swollen during pregnancy then buy suitable shoes. Go shoe shopping with an eye for utility and convenience this time!!!
Staying healthy and feeling comfortable is what most of the women look for doing pregnancy. So, make sure that the clothes, shoes and other accessories that you buy are comfortable.
