Getting Pregnant the Second Time

Getting Pregnant the Second Time

Getting pregnant the second time is not as overwhelming as your first pregnancy. But you may get many small surprises through your second pregnancy. Read on to find what to expect during your second pregnancy.

Getting pregnant for the second time is always different from the first time. So it is better if you do away with the attitude of ‘been there, and done that’ in this case. Pregnancy is a naturally rigorous exercise for the body and it is advisable that you decide on your second pregnancy at least after two years after your first child is born.

Adequate gaps between your pregnancies will give the body the required time to recuperate. So, when you are a couple years past your first pregnancy, you need to realise that there are lots of changes in your life compared to the time when you got pregnant for the first time. Like now you are the mother of a little one, you are undergoing a regular daily stress which is unavoidable and then this in turn lays a toll on your sexual life and health. So depending on your depending physical health and condition, getting pregnant for the second time would require lying focus on a few important factors.

What is There to Expect for the Second Time Around?

The series of sensations like tugging, pulling and expanding will be experienced much early in your pregnancy compared to the first time. This happens as the uterus has already housed a baby before, so it is less likely to yield to the changes following the shape and size of the baby the second time. This should be perceived a very hard drawback, as this has some positives as well. This will help you to feel the foetal movements about a month earlier than your first pregnancy.

Change in the Contraction Routine

With women who have already gone through childbirth, it is likely that the Braxton-Hicks contractions are more frequent and severe in the following pregnancies. There is nothing to be afraid of this as it simply means that you need to endure just a bit more. What you need to understand that your body needs to adjust to the second or subsequent pregnancies in its own way.

The Emotional Connect May Vary

Due to obvious reasons the first pregnancy is always very special for the woman and the family. During the second time around, you have a different life with added responsibilities and more stuff to think and worry about. It is found that the woman has her mind occupied with the thought of her first child along with other household duties.

If she is a working woman, she has a lot to think on her career front as well during a second term of pregnancy. All these factors boil down to the fact that she finds herself emotionally distant from her second pregnancy. This should be perceived as normal and there is no need to be upset that you do not care enough for your baby.

This Can be Reflected on Your Partner as Well.

He may not be providing you with the special treatment that you had experienced on your first pregnancy. Take it lightly as this means that the whole thing is no longer new to him and he has gotten used to it. This is also a positive thing as you will have less to worry with an experienced partner who already knows how to deal when the labour pain starts and with doctors and hospitals.

Therefore, a second pregnancy is also an enjoyable experience albeit in a different manner. Your body might continue to surprise you in its own sweet way and with proper medical advice you should be able to deal with these minor adaptations and adjustments that your body is making in this process. Besides, you are also better prepared to welcome another new member to your family.
