Body Changes during the 9th Month of Pregnancy

Body Changes during the 9th Month of Pregnancy

Be aware of the changes all through your pregnancy so as to deal with them in a better way. Have a look at what body changes are expected during the 9th month of pregnancy.

While you had experienced plenty of changes all through your pregnancy, it shall continue in the last month as well. The changes get all the more visible when it is the last month. Here we shall help you take a look at some of the changes you can expect this month. When you know what to expect, you are actually better prepared.

Breathing Troubles

While you may have already experienced breathing troubles in pregnancy, it shall get all the more acute in the 9th month. Your uterus is growing in size and exerting pressure on the diaphragm and lungs. You may feel breathless even while you are walking around the house. Your body is actually telling you to slow down and prepare for delivery. Do not try to stand up straight quickly when you are moving up from a sitting position.

Itchy Skin

You will feel your skin all the more stretched now. It is normal to feel itchy now. This shall become an acute concern if you are pregnant during the summer months. If it is itching really bad to the point that you cannot concentrate on your work, you must tell your doctor know about it. Drinking plenty of water and using a good moisturizer as prescribed by your doctor will help to reduce the discomfort. However, you must not try anything without your doctor’s consent.

Pressure on the Pelvic Zone

As your baby prepares for labour and engages herself in the pelvic region you shall start feeling the pressure. You may get a “buzz” feeling when she strokes her head against your pelvic muscles. This may increase your urge to urinate frequently than before.

Body Aches

Your body has been bearing the increasing weight for long now. This has made it difficult for you to stand or walk for long. It is normal to feel aches in your knees, waist or lower abdomen now. Make sure to take frequent breaks and sit down putting your legs up. Proper blood circulation shall make things easier for you. Do consult your doctor if a lot of discomfort is experienced.

Digestive Disorders

If you are suffering from indigestion it is a normal thing that you are experiencing now. Your body may be quick to reject or accept a food. To ensure you digest foods well, make it a habit to eat slow, take well cooked food and avoid eating too much before going to bed. Instead of eating too much at once, eat small meals at frequent intervals.

Contractions

Experiencing contractions now is very normal. A tightening and cramping feeling is telling you that your body is preparing for labour. You may experience Braxton hick’s contractions which may disappear after eating or drinking something or changing your position. The real contractions associated with labour shall be more intense and continuous. You must get yourself educated about the different signs of real labour so that you can contact your doctor on observing such signs.

Emotional Changes

You may be feeling highly emotional now. On top of that you may also feel very tired. There is nothing to worry, as prenatal depressions are highly common. You need to realise if most of your fears are associated with labour and delivery. You are also anxious about the ways you should be taking care of your newborn. You can talk about your feelings to your doctor or others who are pregnant. This shall help you understand how natural it is to feel this way. Sorting out your feelings with your partner is very important now.
The physical and emotional changes are just a part of your pregnancy and you shall be absolutely fine after delivering your little bundle of joy. All you need to do is be patient rather than getting frustrated. You shall forget all your pains, when you see the face of your newborn.
Wish you healthy and happy pregnancy!
