Any woman or a couple for that matter has a number of issues reeling inside their heads when they decide to get pregnant. Getting pregnant can be extremely easy or frustrating under certain situations. It has been observed in a number studies that within a year of unprotected and regular intercourse, 85% of the women get pregnant. And usually the remainder 15% get pregnant after some minor issues like time of ovulation, certain fertility issues and the like are addressed. There is some initial confusion as every woman has a unique ovulation cycle.

So the first concern is to be sure of your ovulation cycle when you have decided to become pregnant. The cycle constitutes of the number of days that fall between the two menstrual periods. Ovulation or the release of the egg from the ovaries of the woman usually takes place on the fourteenth day before the starting date of periods in the coming month. This ovulation period is considered to be the most fertile period as far as chances of pregnancy is concerned. There are a few signs of ovulation like, the cervical mucus turns thin and clear. The woman also experiences a mild ache in her lower abdomen. The woman can basically resort to a home ovulation predictor test to allay all doubts.

Focus on Physical Fitness

It is very important to be physically fit. It has been often noticed that physical fitness and good health can alleviate a lot of avoidable complications that are commonly associated with pregnancy. When you have decided upon pregnancy, and have so far neglected your fitness, you can start off with a few low impact programs. The common ones are like walking, cycling, biking and swimming. The vigorous ones should be done under expert supervision.

Take Care of Your Diet

Women are very concerned on what should be their ideal diet when they want to become pregnant. Well, an ideal diet is a balanced meal that guarantees all the necessary mineral, vitamin and other essential nutrients that are required for a healthy metabolic system. Your weight and overall health condition is essentially a great factor in determining what your diet should be. You need to remember that you must not be underweight when you are planning pregnancy and it is equally harmful if you are overweight. So base your diet according to your condition and follow the pattern of three regular meals every day.

Make it a point to incorporate folic acid as it is a big requirement in the pre-pregnancy and the pregnancy state. It prevents the development of the risky spina bifida, a central nervous system disorder along with other associated diseases. It can be taken as a supplement as according to the prescriptions of the doctor and also from the green leafy veggies, cereals and breads. A pre-natal vitamin is also recommended.

Avoid Stress, Smoking, Caffeine and Drug Use

These are factors that not delays pregnancies but also risks the health of the fetus and result in miscarriages and still births. Stay away from addiction of alcohol and tobacco. Try to relax and avoid depressing environment. They can hamper the normal ovulation cycles and hinder conception. It is very important that you are in a free mind during intercourse as it plays with the hormones and makes the state conducive for a successful conception.

Finally, make sure that you follow your vaccination schedule and go for a genetic testing. After all you would always want your baby to be free from any life threatening diseases and try to prevent the occurrence of the same if there is a possibility.

I am 27 years old and pregnant. The problem is that I have some family problems due to which there is undue stress on me. I can't avoid stress. I want to know how will stress affect my baby. Is there any exercise that can help in stress release.
