But there is no need to worry as bearing labour pain and undergoing the process of labour is completely a natural procedure. Let us take a look at the common concerns of women about labour pain.

I am frightened at the thought of labour

Labour pains are a major damper in the joy of having a baby. The thought of the pain that you have to go through makes you ill. Pictures of pregnant women, screaming in pain, that you have seen in hundreds of films, flash through your mind. You cannot get all those horror stories that you have heard out of your mind. This fear is very real, yet very normal.
Labour pains are a fact of life that cannot be avoided. There is no point dreading it and working yourself up. Take a childbirth education class and read up on the subject. Sometimes, the pain is easier to bear when you understand what is happening to your body. Prepare yourself physically and mentally by faithfully following a regimen of breathing and toning exercises. Remember that the pain is not going to last forever. With every successive contraction, you are that much closer to the end of the ordeal.

How to make labour less painful?

Here is how you can make your labour easy and less painful.

Exercise

Exercising everyday throughout your pregnancy period can help your body become flexible. Due to the improved flexibility of your body you may experience less pain and you may not have to bear the labour pain for long hours. Exercising regularly can help you to have a short and easy labour. Pelvic floor exercises are also very beneficial for encouraging quick and less painful delivery. Walking is the best exercise that can be practised during pregnancy to have normal and less painful delivery. You must consult your doctor before you start any kind of exercise programme. During pregnancy it is a must to exercise under an expert’s supervision.

Practise Relaxation Techniques

Practice Yoga

Perineal Massage

Doing this kind of massage starting from the 12th week and through the pregnancy can help mothers to push their baby easily.
