What Your Baby will Need (3 to 6 months)

You need to understand what your baby will need during 3 to 6 months so that you can properly aid the growth and development of your baby. The needs of 3 to 6 months old baby are not very much different from those of 0 to 3 months old baby. Read on to know what your baby will need in 3 to 6 months.

The needs of a baby between the time periods of 3 to 6 months are subject to frequent changes. The main reason is that the needs and requirements of the infant go on changing and there is regular growth and development seen and expected. During this period the infant starts understanding and responding and need special care and attention as well.

By the time the infant is 3 to 6 months old, the parents also get adjusted with their new role as parents and they are ready to take and share responsibilities. Just keep in mind that every child is different and while some of them will respond and show developments and changes faster, other might take some more time.

Needs of 3 to 6 Months old Baby

The infant goes through several rapid changes during the first year of their life. There are physical, emotional and cognitive developments seen in the infant during this time. It will start recognising and responding to your gestures and talks.

Sleeping

By this time the sleep pattern changes and you do not have to get up every two to three hours to feed the child and change his nappy as well. To make things better and help your child follow a routine, you can establish a set bedtime and maintain it too. This will help to have a schedule and your child will get habituated after some time.

Just as it is good to take your child to bed and help him sleep at a fixed time at night as well as during daytime, it is also good to wake him up in the morning so that the sleep time is regulated. Follow the same routine and same style of making him sleep and he will get habituated very soon.

Feeding

Feeding of 3 to 6 months old infant is exciting for both the parents as solid food is introduced in the infant’s life gradually. The feeding is breast milk or formula milk, rich cereal and by the end of sixth month you can introduce banana.

Normally the feeding schedule of a 3 to 6 months baby is not different from that of a 0 to 3 months old baby. The only thing is that you will try to introduce few things and that too very slowly and gradually. When you introduce anything make the quantity very small and monitor the digestive system of the infant. Do not add more than one thing at a time and give a time of at least 3 days to get your infant adjusted.

Playing

When the child reaches the age of 3 to 6 months it is obvious that it will remain restless and go on doing something or the other, you will find that it kicks hands and legs in air and makes lot of meaningless sounds. This is the reason why the infant needs oil massage at least four times a day so that the muscles get relaxed and recharged as well.

Just keep in mind that an infant of 3 to 6 months goes through many changes and you should monitor your child closely too. If your child does not turn over and try to sit or roll, respond to your voice, shows gradual increase in weight, develop and has more control of head and reaches out both the hands by the end of five months, you can consult your pediatrician and take advice.
