Stomach Filling Snack Ideas for Kids

Kids are generally fussy eaters and as a parent it sometimes becomes very difficult to think up new ideas for snacks which will actually be appreciated and eaten by your kids. Here are some recipes that are stomach filling, tasty and kid friendly to boot.

Roll up Veggie or Chicken

Kids are generally fascinated by rolls and so incorporating them in the snack menu of your kids is a great idea. Vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli and beans which are full of iron, protein and fibre are usually detested by many children but once it is there stuffed inside a roll, the same kids will gladly consume it. So all you have to do is to stuff a healthy mixture of vegetables along with egg or soya bean or chicken into flatbread or tortilla shells and make up delectable veggie and chicken rolls.

Barbecued Chicken Sandwich

If you want to get your kids to eat a stomach filling balanced snacks during snack time then a barbecued chicken sandwich is a great option. All you have to do is to wash the leftover chicken pieces in your fridge, throw in a few sprigs of celery and cut carrots and toss all of it in a wok with barbecue sauce. Now take two slices of whole grain bread or garlic rosemary bread and put in the barbecue flavoured stuffing inside. Put in some ketchup or your kids favourite sauce and serve with a smile.

Strawberry and Cream Munchies

Besides being pretty, strawberries are packed with antioxidants and essential vitamins. The challenge is to serve them on something healthier than ice cream or milkshake. The strawberry and cream munchies will give you the perfect chance of creating something tasty yet stomach filling. All you have to do is whip cream cheese, orange essence and honey in a bowl. Spread the mixture of crispy crackers or digestive biscuits and then top up with sliced strawberries. The dish looks very pretty and your kids will fall in love with it.

Egg Bento Salad

Take a plate with four separate compartments and fill it up with this delicious egg bento salad combination. Put in diced eggs

Mini Kebab Skewers

For your children to really enjoy their snacks well you should sometimes bring in an interesting astronomical twist. A great idea is to prepare mini kebab skewers that are bite sized and yet are filled with essential nutrients. All you have to do is thread in chicken or red meat along with cheese and grapes and apricot into a wood skewer system. When the meat is done mount the combination on toothpicks and serve. You could also place half a dozen mini kebabs on a bed of shredded and flavoured iceberg lettuce if you want to make the snack healthier.

Broccoli, Chicken and Raisin Pasta Salad

Give the ordinary pasta recipe a twist by adding plenty of bell peppers, broccoli, raisins and sweet onions. Put in shredded chicken and egg and any other vegetables you may want your kids to eat up. Now use multicoloured penne pasta and serve it with a choice of sauces.
