Fashion for New Mothers

Fashion for New Mothers

Do you think when parenthood enters, fashion exits? Nothing could be further from the truth. Here are some ways to get a mommy makeover minus cosmetic tucks.

Battle of the Bulges

Weight loss is not an immediate viable solution for nursing mothers. However, you can alter your eating patterns to get maximum possible benefit. Avoid fat-laden and junk food. Keep roasted snacks handy. Opt for fruits and salads when hunger pangs strike. This will not only tip the scales in your favor, they will also improve your skin.

Skin Care and Makeup

Very often, your skin is the worst victim of the tremendous hormonal changes you have undergone. It now deserves some pampering. There are many professional skin treatments available in salons: fruit peels and glow-facials are some of the popular ones. You can also go for microdermabrasion done by trained beauticians. The process rids your skin of its dead layer through air-powered crystals and bares fresh, younger skin. As you regain your hormonal balance, your skin will gradually improve. Meanwhile, a bit of right makeup can give temporary respite from dull skin and dark circles.
A full cover of foundation will give you a too-made-up look. Instead, mix your foundation with moisturizer for a lighter look during the day, or use a tinted moisturiser. Dab concealer where required - to hide dark circles or a pimple or two.
Define your eyes with kohl or eyeliner, shadow and mascara.
Select the right lipstick. If you have highlighted your eyes, use softer shades on the lips. Else, opt for a brighter colour that complements your skin tone. A bold lipstick will draw attention away from other minor facial imperfections. Don't forget the gloss!
When stepping out for the night, don't forget to apply shimmery body cream to bare arms and legs. This makes your limbs glow, and look supple and healthy.

Quick Manicure and Pedicure

File your nails. Take some lemon juice and sugar and rub it on your hands and feet to eliminate dead skin. Soak your hands in warm water for 5 minutes. Massage in cream. Polish your nails.

Hairstyle

Get a low-maintenance haircut. Apply before blow-drying to battle frizz. After setting your hair dab a bit of serum again to keep it down. Now is a good time to consider treatments like straightening, rebonding or perming - chemically treated hair is easier to manage, but does require conditioning. But remember, these treatments need healthy hair to start with.

Wardrobe

Right cuts, and not loose clothes, should be your fashion mantra. Avoid tapered jeans. Avoid short tops for few months. Try quarter-sleeved tops and kurtis.
Long skirts are in vogue and will flatter your figure. You can also try straight skirts that stop right below your knees. Wear an anklet to draw attention away from bulges.
Color up your wardrobe. Don't hide behind grays, browns and blacks. Colors are one of the top attention diverters.
Accessorize. You can wear a single color outfit and offset it with accessorizes of contrasting colors. A peacock- green dress will look lovely with a copper colored bracelet, shoes and bag.
So, go out and get your very own makeover. Just remember to keep it simple and comfortable.

i think Indian dresses are very good option for new mothers. they hide the flaws while making you look beautiful. Sarees and kurtis with leggings are good choice.

there are many options like, lower waist cotton pants with comfy top; also you can enjoy long frocks and midis. (not necessary to have scirts only)
