Pre-Teen's Growth and Development (11 Years, 4-Month-Old)

The growth and development of the child is extremely important and raising an 11-year old kid is not very easy. There are several things which should be kept in mind and should be taken care of. Children start improving on their social skills during this point of age.

Puberty and Adolescence

When children are at the stage of puberty they find it difficult to deal with the complex society outside as are exposed to the havoc of hormonal changes. Children might find it difficult to cope up in the school and might find peers to be more competitive and complicated but, at the same time they might also have a best friend with whom they share everything. Girls have more ups and downs in their relationships as compared to boys. It is seen that boys are more focused on the things they do and not with whom they do.

Effects of Peer Pressure

Peer influence is more during this age and children are more interested in things which their friends are doing and want to be independent. Children try to imitate what their peers are doing, wearing, talking and all those things to matchup. Children tend to have less interest in the family matters and want to spend more time with their friends. Parents find it difficult to spend time with their children as children are more into their friends. Children by this age want to start their life more independently and different from their parents, stretching their wings.

Thinking - Cognitive Development

Children at this age start realising things and questioning things and also reason things. They start looking into the bigger picture and working out things which they have not done before. Children start being funny and talking smart which they were not doing before.
There are some children who might even be thinking about college and new school life and might take up studies and different challenges seriously.

Relation with Your Kids

When children turn eleven they start going into that independent zone where every child wants to be, this might somehow hamper the relation between parents and the children. Mothers and boys always share a close relation which might be disrupted due to this behaviour and the girls and the fathers have a very emotional relationship which might become a bit distant.
There might be several changes like sometimes the mother and daughter might start sharing a close bond and enjoy their company together and in other case the son and the father might come together.

Emotional Development

Children at this age can be different and difficult both. Their emotions might be heightened and they might get over-excited or extremely nervous as they are nearing their adolescence. Things in school might change showcasing the weakness of certain children who coped happily till now. The child’s skills may be tested now and brought into notice at this age.
This is the time when you should be talking to your child’s teacher and give her proper guidance and care with the help of the teacher. Your support is crucial at this stage for right growth and development of your child.
