I am 32 and the mother of 2 small school going children.I love and respect my parents and am grateful for all they have done.I had one major problem with my mom - she had a very short temper and used to start a barrage of vicious words at the drop of a hat which being a sensitive person used to tear my soul like a paper-shredder.This lasted thru my childhood and teenage and youth.Infact I had a feeling of relief the day I got married and left home.I forgave her later for all this as I knew she was under a lot of pressure due to my father's constant ill-health and financial problems.Of late I have realised that I too am getting very short-tempered with my children and inspite of holding my tongue, end up saying something I later regret.My children are good,confident kids and I dont want their self-esteem to be affected the way mine was by my mother.I have no major psychological pressures but yes my husband does keep long working hours,leaving before the children wake up and coming after they sleep and working or sleeping on weekends.We do manage to go out on sunday evenings though.Could this be the reason or my recent weight-reducing programs(I go to the gym for an hour everyday but no major dieting) responsible for this behavior or is it a case of like mother-like daughter behavior.I wish someone can help me out thru this.I have sacrificed a good career at my own will to take care of my children and the last thing I want is to be a bad mother. ann replied. hi!!!i can understand ur predicament .temperamental outbursts are sometimes related to physiological changes.anemia sometimes leads to irritability.are u sure u r not anemic.
