He doesnt play at all. he is always crying. so i dont understand whether he is hungry, or he is not well. i took him to the doctor, he says that he becomes habit of crying. he is perfectly fine. Result of this is that he is not gaining weight. i m working woman and my maidservant is taking care of him. so wholeday whenever he is awake she always carry him only. my maidservant is also telling me that ur child is not playing at all. pl. guide me.

i think your child needs your hug.because i have seen many children behaving like this when there mother go for work. as the child is very small. it needs your affection. no one in this world can take care of a child properly other than its mother.you please note wether the servant is playing any mischieves.be careful with the maids. in front of you , they may behave properly, but after you go, they may do something. enquire every thing properly.all the best

Somehow, I don't think this is the kind of advice Jayshree was hoping for.

Babies need a routine. I have been thru all of this and know exactly where you are coming from. The problem is easily fixed if you begin a routine and are strict. I shall give an example to help.

6am baby wakes, breakfast, bottle and about 30mins - 1hour play time on the floor with toys. Do not pick the baby up, get down there and play. Show the toys and as baby has interest move away slightly(increase the distance each time). If he cries wait about 2 mins before going close and playing again. You will need to tell your maid this is what is needed. After play he should have a nap. If he cries in bed that is fine, heart-breaking but fine. He must stay in bed.

10 am bottle and snacks... Same play again... then at 2pm bottle and lunch and again at 6pm bottle and dinner... If baby has a bottle in the night then remeber play time isnt an option then. Babies should be asleep by around 7-8pm and will mostly sleep untl 6am.

He needs to stop being carried and held. he has learned that crying gets him attention and hugs. It seems he has not leanred the value of playing alone and it is an important skill to teach your baby. All the best

hi Dear

good advice.... even i got a confidence by yr reply.... i also have 2 babies first one is daughter 3.3 year old and son 1.1 year old.
my sone is very cranky sometimes and cries and gets attention of my aunt, maid and neighbours. he stays with my aunt during the day time as i am a working mother.

I am little strict with him as u told about the routin.... my parents are not happy with the same. they say that he is too small to be kept crying....but i believe and now i am confident that if u do what they want if they cry....then they form a habit of crying for the things they want. by gods grace my daughter is such a darling, she never cried, unless she is hungry.
Thanks
Madhavi
