Career Options:Groom my child for a particular career from beginn
2007-12-11
Name: poonam batra

I am a working mother. I have a teen aged son who has sharp mind but does not concentrate much on studies. He is most of the times on T.V or computer when i am not at home. I know that i have to keep my expectations at an avarage level. I want to know the addresses of councellors/experts in Delhi who can help me find out the line that will be suitable for my child according to his calibure/interest so that i can groom/divert him from now on in order to have a comfortable carreer.

Hi poonam you should not worry just make sure you concentrate more on him and not force to do anything which will make more stubborn.

Try to get to know about his homework and also make sure to get him to some extra curriculum classes and this will help you to get to know that your kid is also interested in other stuff and also will be suitable for him to stop watching tv whole day long get to know other stuff try to make him play with different activities even when you are not around.
all the best . happy parenting

You could probably put him in some activity or the other whether sports or music related lessons as per his interest and this will help reduce his tv watching habit. There are many career guidance and aptitude tests that are available even online to help you judge his career orientation and groom him for it. Having said that, I would recommend that you don't exert too much pressure on him to perform or worry about a career if he is a bit young.

He does not necessarily need a counselor. It is important that you get the television disconnected for a few months. He needs to get out of the habit and join him in either an instrument or dance class, which will keep him fit and alert. Also, monitor his time on the computer. Make a deal that for 2 hours of studies, you get 30 mins on the system. All in all, maintain a strong hand. All the best! :)
