hi
i am also married in a different caste. i am a bengali married to a marwari guy. in my customs there is a trend to give clothes during durga puja and shud be frm both sides and even during marriage. but in their customs it is only take take and no giving business. i am brought up in a open atmosphere and my mom has always taught me to live with self respect. since i am not following my customs no need to follow his customs....as simple as tht. even as i am pregnant mil wanted to take me to her place and i prefferd staying with my mom as mostly in eastern part of india girls go to there home to their moms during pregnancy. so i have called my mom and she is staying with me for the time being. initially they made a issue out of it but now they have shut up and also i have made my husband understand tht the way my mom will take care of me my mil cant how ever good she may be. its actually the level of comfort and understanding tht u share with ur mom ....well when we marry in different caste i feel its both ways adjustments req and not only the girl shud go on compromising. thts exactly how i feel. u shud talk to ur hubby abt it as he is the only person who wud understand ur point of view.
take care dear

How to deal with this?
I feel that my husbands parents are using their son. My husband is from India and I am from the USA. He obtained his greencard and citizenship through me after coming here. He is a physician and obtained his residency training. I worked to earn for our family for two years until he got his job. Then he applied for his parents to visit us on a visiting visa. We were both wo... - Tina Shah [View Message]
RE:self centered inlaws
I agree they have completely double standards as I recently found out. I saw my husbands childhood photos when he was young. His parents claim they sacrificed everything for their kids and lived poor and behave like martyr parents. Got treated as free domestic servant. But the photos showed them dressed like Bollywood stars with watches and jewellery enjoying their life. O... - Tina [View Message]

RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
if you are rudely talking with her, then this is not way to talking with your mother in law, you tell her in polite way, your son is her grand son, so she never think about his bad effects.... - ruchita [View Message]
