dear friends,
We are currently in the US and ILs in India, even though am far away from my MIL - every week call she irritates me so much. She tells me how she enjoys life there, attending all tourist places, marriages & functions, how she dressed herself, how ppl praised her etc., etc.,
This really makes me feel bad. I am all alone here with my infant son..working & struggling..while she is totally enjoying
I have absolutely no problems if she is enjoying but why does she want to tell this every saturday how nice is her life. Sometime back I too started boasting about my lifestyle here, but it backfired me..she cried and cried saying you ppl are having fun without me
How do I handle this situation..Am I wrong in being jealous..

dear friend
theres nothing to worry/feel J aboutYou know & accept the fact that ure mil is jealous of you.Just be a patient listener whenever she brags & in the end say ure really very lucky This will satisfy her ego No need to show her that ure feeling lonely After a while she 'll stop doing it herself
Meanwhile try to keep ureself busy Make friends ,develop hobbies etc Dont loose ure peace of mindJust think its a once a week soap opera so have a laugh over it

Hiya..

What I am seeing here is that she is the one who is actually jealous of you. If she started crying like that, she is making up stories. She is not going anywhere ... i bet she sits at home all day etc.
Next time she starts, say how much freedom you have etc....you are your own boss and how you are loving being independant.
If she starts to cry again, confront her and ask her if she is really saying the truth or making up stories.
You might be surprised that she is the lonely one.

How to deal with this?
I feel that my husbands parents are using their son. My husband is from India and I am from the USA. He obtained his greencard and citizenship through me after coming here. He is a physician and obtained his residency training. I worked to earn for our family for two years until he got his job. Then he applied for his parents to visit us on a visiting visa. RE:self centered inlaws
I agree they have completely double standards as I recently found out. I saw my husbands childhood photos when he was young. His parents claim they sacrificed everything for their kids and lived poor and behave like martyr parents. Got treated as free domestic servant. But the photos showed them dressed like Bollywood stars with watches and jewellery enjoying their life. O... - Tina [View Message]

RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
if you are rudely talking with her, then this is not way to talking with your mother in law, you tell her in polite way, your son is her grand son, so she never think about his bad effects.... - ruchita [View Message]
