Role of in-laws:shld I keep my kid in creche or with mominlaw?

My mominlaw insists that she will look after my kid when I go for work. But I dont whether the child shld be put in a creche. I think that will not make him dependent on one person, especially when the granny is away. So, I dont know what decision to take.

Not a single mom in law can feel that they own their grandchild, all they feel is affection. They are alone in their old age they need some attention and i think if grandma wants to look after the kid then do it every other day. Keep the kid in day care every other day. Lets think about our mothers, how they long for their grand child.

Your mominlaw must be feeling affectionate towards the child. It is perfectly natural. But, that does not mean you latch on the baby to her. She has a right to spend het time her own way. So, strike a golden mean. And ask her to take charge for the early part of the mornings and late evenings. In this way, you will keep her happy and the baby emotionally self-reliant.

Some time in the creche is very important. He should know about the ways of the other children. He should know how to deal with toughies and normals. So, although it is good that your sasuji has offered her time, let him not get used to only people at home.

I envy you for the fact that your mominlaw wants to after your baby. Mine just refused to take the responsibility. But jokes apart, just try to see that your mom-in-law does not get possessive with your kid. She must have him but not own him.

How to deal with this?
I feel that my husbands parents are using their son. My husband is from India and I am from the USA. He obtained his greencard and citizenship through me after coming here. He is a physician and obtained his residency training. I worked to earn for our family for two years until he got his job. Then he applied for his parents to visit us on a visiting visa. RE:self centered inlaws
I agree they have completely double standards as I recently found out. I saw my husbands childhood photos when he was young. His parents claim they sacrificed everything for their kids and lived poor and behave like martyr parents. Got treated as free domestic servant. But the photos showed them dressed like Bollywood stars with watches and jewellery enjoying their life. O... - Tina [View Message]

hello kajal,
if you are rudely talking with her, then this is not way to talking with your mother in law, you tell her in polite way, your son is her grand son, so she never think about his bad effects.... - ruchita [View Message]
RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
stop your negative thinking towards your mother in law, she is your son grand mother too, so if she gave some sweet like sugar to him its just because of her love towards him.... - reshma [View Message]
