Role of in-laws:need you advise
2005-08-04
Name: helpless girl

Dear All, I need your advise. I have been married for over 2 years and faced several problems in the beginning. As usual my hubby used to listen to his mother and was against my family, but he is slowly changing. My hubby is a very good person, but easily influenced by his mother. He does listen to me now and then, if I do point out to him that his mother is wrong. However, I realise that I have become a very impatient person and get very irritated with my hubby each time he talks about his parents. Also, next month my hubby and I are taking vacation and meeting my brother on the way in transit. I am afraid that my MIL will tell my hubby not to meet my brother or to be cold with him. I am getting tired of anticipating what she will do next and therefore always having to prewarn my hubby. He is aware of his behaviour towards my family, but unfortunately does not realise the hurt I feel....Ladies, what should I do ? I am tired of always staying alert and watching the situation around my MIL and hubby. If I let go completely, my MIL always finds a way to hurt me.... I am growing tired and irritated and all my anger is coming out on my hubby, which is ruining our relationship. Should I speak to my MIL to stop telling my hubby against my family ? I feel that my hubby is a grown man, and should decide himself what he wants to do.... Please help....

How to deal with this?

He is a physician and obtained his residency training. I worked to earn for our family for two years until he got his job. Then he applied for his parents to visit us on a visiting visa. We were both wo... - Tina Shah [View Message]
RE:self centered inlaws
I agree they have completely double standards as I recently found out. I saw my husbands childhood photos when he was young. His parents claim they sacrificed everything for their kids and lived poor and behave like martyr parents. Got treated as free domestic servant. But the photos showed them dressed like Bollywood stars with watches and jewellery enjoying their life. O... - Tina [View Message]

RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
if you are rudely talking with her, then this is not way to talking with your mother in law, you tell her in polite way, your son is her grand son, so she never think about his bad effects.... - ruchita [View Message]
RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
stop your negative thinking towards your mother in law, she is your son grand mother too, so if she gave some sweet like sugar to him its just because of her love towards him.... - reshma [View Message]
