Grandparenting:Wanting to take part in granddaughters wedding

Name: Pakamma I am in a very difficult situation. My problem is something different. My granddaughter is getting married in few months. I also want to give some inputs in the wedding preparations. But it seems nobody wants my suggestions. Everything from wedding shopping to planning is done by my kids. How can i manage the situation?

its not like that simi. every parent will have a wish to be a part of the wedding. they love their children so it is quite obvious that they should be a part of theri imp day.

It is indeed a sticky situation. the best possible way to avoid a conflict would be to go by your kids decisions. You could just give in your suggestions and if they like it they will surely incorporate it. You should be happy to part of the special occasion and to be able to spend happier times with your kids and grandchildren.

I believe that grandparents should be included in wedding plans, but not in planning the wedding. There is a difference. A wedding is stressful for parents without the help of older generation. Weddings should bring families together, not tear them apart. Try to explain your concerns to your kids. I am sure they will listen.
