Top 10 Things Children Learn Every Day

Parents must be aware of the things children can learn through their day-to-day activities. It can help them to provide stimulating environment that can improve their learning capabilities. Read about the top 10 things children learn every day.

Children are fast learners. When they are guided properly, they acquire different skills through their day-to-day activities. In the recent time, children start going to school at early stage so they start learning from their teachers apart from their parents and care givers. With 5 years of age, the learning rate in children is the fastest. Below are the 10 things children learn every day.


Right from the day one, children start learning socialization. The initial bonding with mother and then slowly their interaction with the other members of the family teach them socialization. Later on, children start interacting with their teachers, care givers, friends and others and learn how to socialize through their daily activities at home, school, playground and other places.


Children learn to communicate through various activities they perform on daily basis. Children also learn to communicate by observing others. Infants try to communicate with their parents or caregivers when they talk to them or sing rhymes or songs to them. Children also learn to communicate by listening songs, watching cartoons. Later on school becomes the best place to teach communication skills to a child.


Right from the day a child is born, he or she has the thinking ability but with time, it needs to be developed. The ability of thinking includes listening, looking, questioning and decision making. When adults talk to the children, even the toddlers, it helps the children to think and perceive the words. In the pre-school or school going children, puzzles, building blocks etc. are the activities which help the children to learn and sharpen their thinking skill. Riddles and jokes are also good ways to develop thinking ability.

Self Esteem

Self esteem of a child cannot be built in a day. Parents must allow children to try out things on their own and restrain themselves from interfering in every activity a child is performing. Through the mistakes, children will learn the right way to do a task and that surely helps a child to build his or her self esteem. Every time parents, teachers or others praise a child for his smallest achievement, it helps the child in becoming self confident.


Not taking anyone else’s belonging without asking, speaking the truth in all situations etc. are what we consider as being honest. A child learns this important value of life through their day-to-day activities. E.g. returning back a pencil box, book etc. belonging to other child, accepting mistakes in front of others etc. teaching a child to become honest.


Through various cultural events and practices that keep happening around a child help the child to learn more about his or her culture. The way parents say prayers, the religious places visited by the family members, the festivals celebrated and foods eaten help the child to learn more about culture on daily basis.

Health and Wellness

Going out for outdoor activities, participating in different games in school, washing hands every time before eating, brushing teeth twice a day etc. are some habits that teach children about health and wellness.


A child gets to know a little bit about its environment every day. When children get to watch, change of season, plants growing, birds flying, sunrise, sunset etc. they question their parents about these and learn more about their environment. They appreciate the importance of nature and will try to save it.


Creativity of a child can be developed through various activities they get involved every day. Jigsaw puzzles, building blocks, painting, singing, dancing, play dough etc. are some of the activities that help a child to sharpen his or her creative skills.

Reading and Number Skill

Counting puzzles, alphabet puzzles, books, interaction with parents and others help the children to develop reading and numbers skills every day. When they start going to school, this pace of learning is increased.

Learning is a continuous process and that is why parents, teachers and care givers must keep a keen eye on various activities that help children learn different skills and important values of life.
