What is Reiki?

The word Reiki can be divided in two parts - 'Rei'- energy and 'ki'- life. The word Reiki means Universal Life Force Energy. Reiki is one of the most widely used healing powers in the world. Reiki can be very easily learnt and taught. When a person is healed the master uses his palms to heal.

History of Reiki

Reiki has a very unique history. But it has no written theories. It was passed on through the masters to their disciples by the word of mouth. Dr. Mikao Usui a Christian monk was the founder of Reiki. Dr. Usui always wondered how Jesus healed with his palms. After few years of research he decided to go to the mountain and meditate for 21 days. So he travelled to the holy mountain of Kori-Yana where he fasted and meditated for 21 days.

On his arrival at the mountain, he placed 21 stones in front of him and removed one on each day as it passed, just as a kind of calendar. During these days he read sutras, recited songs and meditated. Nothing unusual happened for 20 days but on the 21st day he saw a white light moving towards him in a great speed. He thought that the light would kill him. The beam of light struck his forehead. Then he saw small white bubbles which were the powerful symbols of Reiki. Then he moved to come down from the mountain. On his way a stone hit his leg and it started bleeding. He placed his palm on his leg and the wound healed. After that Dr. Usui spend his whole life in healing people and teaching Reiki to millions.

How does Reiki heal disorders?

The life force flowing through us makes us stay alive. The life force flows through the pathways known as chakras, meridians and nadis

The life force responds to what we think and what we feel. It is disturbed as we let our mind encounter with negative thoughts and feelings. These negative thoughts and feeling continuously interrupt the flow of life as they get attached to the energy fields. As such, proper functioning of organs and cells in our body does not take place. The efficiency of the organs and cells in our body is reduced due to that.

As a person is healed with the help of Reiki, it flows through the body of the person being healed. It flows through the organs, cells and tissues affected by negative energy. It infuses positive energy in to the affected organs of the body. This process helps to shun away all the negative thoughts and feelings from the affected organs. It also enhances the level of vibration in the energy filed surrounding the human body. In this way Reiki cleanses the entire system of human body which makes the life force flow efficiently. within the physical body. It supports the vital functions of the body by nourishing cells and organs in our body. If such flow of life force is disturbed, the functions in some organs and tissues of human body are reduced.
