But my gut feeling says that something is wrong. I am worried about IUGR or some problem with the baby. I have heard of the comlications of having a small baby. Please I need advice urgently.

Hi,

Don't worry if your tummy is not showing. As long as you are measuring fine (fundal height) and you are gaining weight you are perfectly ok. I had the same problems with my first baby but everything was ok, I even had ultrasounds done twice or thrice and I was told I might have IUGR but then it was ruled out by ultrasound results.
If you are very much concerned ask your doctor about it, he or she might give you better guidance.

Dear Chini,
Please sway your concerns and fears. This is a time when most of us get in anxiety.
Rely on what your Dr. say.
At the six month gestation you should have been through with many tests and ultrasound showing well being of your baby. If all was fine why should you bring thought about tummy showing or not.

However, I don't think I understood correct what you mean by \";Tummy not showing\"; as in your message body you say people come up to you giving surprise that \";you are pregnant and showing much\";. These sentences are contradicting to your subject line.

At the same time let me clarify, showing or not is totally depend on one's physical built. Thin girls show very soon although baby is of normal size. On the other hand good build and tall girls with their normal Body weight won't show pregnancy that easily. My best friend was not showing her belly until in her 9th month of pregnancy. She delivery healthy and normal weight baby.

IUGR is not a thing you should worry. If you are worried then discuss with Dr. he/she can perform analysis, and find out truth. Some concerns better you should not bring to mind as they add a lot to anxiery and confusion. This is time you need to be relaxed.

If worried ask your Dr. to offer you an ultrasound to see baby is doing good and measure weight of your baby.

Hope these words sooth your feelings and help swaying concerns.

Archie

hey ananya this is really a very sensitive case and you should think about it before hand as in what the child would think in future as he or she grows up. Or else you will have to do counselling of the child at the right time.... - ridhi [View Message]
