Feeding:How to wean from bottle?

Hello everyone,

I have a 19 month old daughter and she still takes milk from bottle, whenever i try to give her sippy cup she doesn't like it, but she likes to drink water from the cup. what to do? Her pediatrician is asking me to switch over to cup.
I don't know what to do, she is not a good eater and she drinks milk, i am worried if i insist too much she might leave that also. Please suggest how to overcome this.

Thanks for any suggestions....

Hi Asha,
I guess since the doctor has made it a point to make the change over to sippy then we can try only our best. I think maybe we give the kid water and juice in the cup and one feeding of milk in the cup and slowly increase it. Lets see. Even i will try it out.
Bye, Lakshmi...Hope it works.

Hi,
I have the same problem with my 21month old son. I had taken advise from a lot of people and everyone has told me to gradually make them drink from a cup and if they refuse don't give the bottle and give only the cup and in a matter a few days they will leave the bottle. I have tried this and haven't succeeded in it.
So the conclusion i have come to is that since my son is a very poor eater and he loves to drink milk i don't want to bother him with one thing that he likes doing. As he grows up he will understand what we tell him so in a couple of months i can make him drink from a glass or a cup while we drink coffee or tea. So, with age he will understand and i don't want to force him as i am already forcing him to eat. Let us not force them.
I hope my personal opinion helps u to make a decision.
Bye, Lakshmi
