When should babies be given solid food? What are the best foods to start them on? Is it better to use commercially prepared baby food or homemade?

Home made food is always better for infants so that we can ensure safety and hygiene. You can start giving solid food from 1.5 years of age.

I always mix and match home made food with commercial baby foods such as Cerelac... since commercial foods are fortified ... they should be given once a day atleast... rest of the meals can be the same food that you have yourself in a more liqiud and mashed avtaar. also while travelling where cooking it not a posibility and you arent sure of contents tinned food is very handy and hygenic too.

I think this article is very sensible. Remember that years back, there was no Cerelac or other such baby food. Your parents and grandparents were fed on natural, home cooked baby food. They turned out fine so why shouldn' t you opt for the same food for your baby.

From your language and ideas I am guessing you are a collegiate. What to tell you just one thing. There is more to life than researches can prove. One such important thing is called EXPERIENCE. That speaks a lot and that is the language most dais are speaking.

Dais have traditionally looked after the newborns and their mothers and know a lot about them. My dai recommends such recipes a lot. Between the tinned stuff and these, she would again go for these.

Can I really replace my child' s Cerelac diet with the given concoction? Is there any study or anything to prove that this will not harm my kid, infact benefit him? On what basis do I trust this article?
