My sis's baby is around 5 months old. She's exclusively breastfed so far and my sis tried giving her NAN1 ( recommended by doc ) . She gave her 120 ml and she drank it all up. but a lil later ( maybe 30 mins ) threw up and she also had a red rash around her mouth after she threw up .which cleared up soon after she applied some coconut oil.

Does this mean she's allergic to NAN1 ? Maybe 120 ml was too much for her but even then the rash shouldn't have happened right ? Has anyone else had this problem ?

at 5months, her intake should be an approx of :
Breast milk: on demand
OR Iron-fortified formula: 4–5 feedings of 6–8 ounces each...

rash has nothing to do with excess intake of formula,,the rash around the mouth could be 1. allergy from milk solid or certain protein present in formula. OR 2. could be sign of teething.but if its sign if teething it will not go away until the teeth buds appear or will stay for a couple days,,and it wouldnt have occurd just after the milk feed.
try it again,,if it happens again,,she is allergic to this formula,,you might want to try a differnt brand of formula,,sometimes the nutrient level in formula being differnt,,,the accptance level also differs and may be she might accept the other brand.
if she still happens to do the same thing,,thn its milk allergy and not the certain nutrient in that formula..and you might want to replace her with some hypoallergic formula or other formula that is non-milk based.

next time the rash appear,,best thing to do is,,let your dr see it with naked eye so that he can catch the cause of it !

when my daughter ananya was arnd 4-6 mtnths she was lean and on breast feed s i also tried introducing some frmula not exactly NAN ..when she had that she vommited full of the formula out and also she had very very watery motions just simple water ...

after some days i again gave her some formula this time i made it more thin again same thing happend then i just stopped it as she was allergic to formula milk .
