Hetal, is it true that brinjal has nicotin.please throw some lights on this.

I dont know if Brinjal has nicotine or other harmful substances but my grandmom insists that I shuld stay away from Brinjal and Ladies finger as long as I feed my little one. She doesnt know y it's bad.. just some advice she got from her elders and is passing onto others. Sometimes it helps to follow even what sounds like meaningless advice.. after all there r so many other veggies to choose from :)

i never heard of nicotine in brinjal..heard of solanine in brinjal..but it will b digested in gut of normal patients..but arthiritis patients cannotdigest it....check

hi neetu,

i used to give her juz 2 or 3 tsp as a chnage may b once in a months like that..i first tested with 1/2 tsp to her..she was doin gud with it...in that site u can see an eggplant recipe..thaz what i tried n itz mentioned that it can b given frm 8 moths onwards

this site is very helpful. i am following it eversince hetal suggested it to some other member.i am making home made baby food from this site. i have read this page.

my doc said it has nicotin and it delays baby growth. that is why i am worried.i eat lotz of brinjal in my diet and i bf so i am worried that if nicotine will pass in breastmilk.

my understanding is when we smoke, it harms baby.cigars has nicotin, haina ?

you have heard of solanine in brinjal, still you were giving your baby brinjal at 6months !
