Hi everybody,
My son is 10 months old. Now I would like to start 2% milk. He is only on Breast feeding. So how can I start. I have to start how many times a day and Have to strat with bottle or Sippy cup???
and how much quantity?? He is taking formula once in aday with cereal. So it will be ok if he will start regular milk with one time formula???

please advise me.
Thanks in advance

Hi. why don't you check hetal's post in this board for your child age wise diet charts. it will guide you properly.
my kids have gain good weight with her diet charts.touch wood.
my ped strictly adviced me not to give nuts when i wanted to give soaked and boiled almonds. he told me to avoid it until 1 year.
my personal experience with my kids was to give something light for dinner but make sure he eats well.
i have seen my elder kid getting up most of the times at night whenever he had something heavy for dinners.
i have also heard that heavy dinners makes kid gain unhealthy weight.i am not a proper person to explain you in details but i was also told the same thing.it is wrong idea that kids wakeup at night all the time because of hunger. i have breastfeed my first kid and even though he was full with my feeds before sleep, he was asking for feeds at midnights mostly i think because he was breastfeed baby.
i was not able to breastfeed my second kid so he was on formula from birth, he never used to get up at night and ask for feeds.sometimes he used to skip his meals still he would not get up at night.
my ped was also against giving sugar atleast until 1 year.

hope my personal experience helps you.

Hi cute baby's mom,

U can give ur baby cow's milk... there is no problem.. ... first try 1% or 2%... give him like 3-4 oz... and wait for a day and see how well he eats and passes motion after drinking the milk and then continue with it and also try to increase the milk based on his ability to drink.. for eg... the amount u give him on formula... U can give him the same amount of cow's milk too... and then slowly after he is one year u can give him whole milk.... also check with his doc about this....

u can start of with either formula milk or cow's milk in the morning like around 7-8 as soon as he gets up....

Continue with the bottle but slowly reduce it by giving it only in the nights... and when he is awake give him the sippy cup... it will be a lil difficult in the beginning but start it slowly... like first start off by giving water or fruit juice so he like the ides of sippy cups... and then slowly start by giving him milk in the sippy cup once a day and then slowly cut down bottle to nights and then as he grows big and eats well in the night he will stop waking up in the night and u can cut down on the bottle feeding..... be patient... it is a very slow process....

breakfast - u can give him fruits... whatever u usually give him.... eg: apple, papaya, banana,

lunch - U can give him dhal with lil rice... or cereal... or any veggies mashed with dhal a lil rice....

snack - u can give him cow's milk.... add a lil sugar... coz they say cow's milk is a lil hard to digest for babies so add a lil sugar it will help the milk to digest well..... with a snack .... like the small fruit bites , baby biscuits etc...

dinner - u can cook all veggies like potato, beets, cauliflower, carrot etc... and strain the water and mix this water with cereal.... ALso u can fry and powder almonds and mix it with cereal and feed... almonds r very good for babies... u can also make whole wheat porride... like fry the whole wheat and then add hot milk and cokk it for 2-3 minutes with lil sugar... try to dilute it ... or make it the consistancy of how ur baby takes cereal.... but when u r first trying try it lil and check how his body reacts and then continue...

Try to give him something a lil heavy during dinner so that he can sleep for a longer time and so that he can get up in the night or early morning once and u can give him formula/breastfeed.

Plz do continue breastfeed.... based on ur convenience..

I hope my advice/suggestions help ur cute baby to get even more cuter.... have fun....
