My daughter is 16 months old. I m still breastfeeding her. I wanted to completely stop bfing by 1 year itself. But if i am feeding any food like Sooji ka halwa, kichdi, juices.. she takes only 5 spoons max. If i force her she will cry or vomit. I feel upset and since i dont want her to be empty stomach i will bf. That is my problem. Please suggest me how to make her eat and how to wean. Please... arti replied. I know it is really heartbreaking, but one has to wean them so just relax first.My daughter bf till 2 yrs and I was exhausted by that time. Nobody imn my fly(mil/hubby) were ready to help me. So one nite I applied neem juice. (take a few leaves ,wash well, grind in mixer and then strain) It took 2-3 days but my daughter finally gave up. My son is 15 months now...I started weaning him off slowly from 12th month . I started with day time weaning . He used to have bf only when he used to be sleepy othertimes he had solids....so during afternoon naptime..I tried changing his position of sleep not in my arms as they are reminded of bf then . Slowly maybe in 2 days he learned to sleep without bf..then the problem was to wean him at night . My problem was i used to sleep with him and hence he used to wake up searching for breast atleast 2-3 times at night or whenever he woke up .
Then i started to sleep turning on other side not facing him..he still cried a lot some nights and slept..i even tried giving him water in sipper or glass..he drank and slept..slowly he got weaned now and sleeps full night...touchwood. manisha replied. my kid was same. i read somewhere in these boards to remain absent when baby asks for feeds. it worked for my kid.
my kid used to cry in first couple days.after that she would wake up trying to latch because i was not sleeping next to her, she stopped it.sometimes she used to wakeup and my mother used to take care of her.
i used to sleep in different room.
she stopped getting up at night after 1 week. but you need someone who knows how to take care of crying baby.my mil used to get irritated so weaning was not possible when i was staying with my inlaws. i came to my moms place and my mom supported me.
my personal advice is don't change your clothes before your kid. whenever they see mothers doing that, they remember bf. always keep the chest area covered.
