Hetal replied. check on the nan2 pack, its mostly written with fine print, for babies of 0-12months or 12-24 months or 12-36months !
ST replied. Dear Priya,
I used to think that NAN2 was meant for babies from 12 months onwards. If that is the case, then it may not be a bad idea to give your baby NAN2. But your doctor is best bet.

Hetal replied. hi,
as such no harm is reported with usage of pediasure when taken without consultation of ped or your dr.
but these kids have shown obesity in longer run,,esp those who were started pediasure without dr consultation.
at first, let your dr decide whether your son is actually below average by weight or its just moms heart that feels that his son is low in weight...
if drs says so,,then....
this is recommended not only for proper weight gain but also for right nutrients that your toddler needs.
also, to add these have proper fat levels along with other nutrients and minerals compared to infant formula.
in US, generally drs suggest it to babies/toddlers whose weight is less and these kids seems to be laggng behind milestones due to lack of nutrients and no other cause.
and the other kids who were not accepting cows milk as expected by dr,,and there were this third category of kids who had already become picky eaters by 9months and couldnt gain good weight because of lack of interest/intake in foods or continuous illness issues going on with them and they couldnt recover out of it,,,and thus needs a good boost of 100% or more nutrients,,,which pediasure or such alternatives provides them to get in good shape in short duration.
so the best thing to do, in your case, is ask your ped dr. if your dr feels the need that your baby needs pediasure or ne such alternative,he will suggest you accordingly,,and it will help your baby gain weight and grow healthy with right nutrients.
remember onething, give your baby a healthy and complete diet that he needs and don't compromise with lesser nutrients when he needs more or he is fit for other better alternatives.
fat levels, even though imp for toddler lives are not the only good factors in weight gains that babies/toddlers need,,there are many other things/nutrients and minerals that babies/toddlers need to develop and grow healthy.infant formula might have provided your baby a good weight gain, but that weight gain might be lesser compared to what he should have gained with other alternatives,,like proper diet, cows milk or now pediasure.
other things about pediasure, its given from age 1 to age 10(in US)contains 100% or more of the NAS-NRC recommended dietary allowance for proteins, vitamins and minerals,,so yes,,,it is far better than ne other infant formula,,..and yes it will give you healthier results than your formula gave you ...
But,, its mentioned specifically by the company itself that you can use as nutritional supplement with or between meals without consultation,, but it can be used as sole source of nutrition only on the consultation of health care professional,,, which means if you want to make this product,,as a whole and sole nutritional support//replacing milk or formula,,,for good results,,,,,drs advice is the best to go for.
Now,,,whether to give or not,,with or without consulting your dr,,,is your personal decision !
So, You be the best judge...my work ends here :)
take care,,,and you have a wonderful weekend !!
