Feeding:protein for vegetarian toddler

Hi,

My son is 20 months old and on his recent visit to the doc, it was recommended that he needs to boost his protein intake.

My son eats dal and tofu besides dairy now. Is it ok to give him peanut butter or almond butter on a daily basis? Can toddlers digest such heavy food? Can anyone suggest what else i can add to his staple diet? He needs to have atleast 6-8 oz more of protein food everyday...

Thanks
-Radhika

Hi Radhika,

I think Cottage cheese and other pasteurised cheeses are all good sources of protein.
Also lentils, whole milk, garbenzo, should provide good amts. of protein for a toddler.
