Feeding:How to make the baby take curd

Hi
My daughter is 1 year old. I am trying to give her curd once a day. She hates it and cries a lot if i forcefully feed her. Even if i add lot of sugar to it, she doesn't like it. I am worried if she would ever take curd. Can anyone give me ideas on how they trained their baby to take curd if the baby hates it ?

what anu said should work...most babies have shown interest in selffeeding,,,check my various post on self feeding and developing intrest in foods,,most of the times when babies and food is left alone,,babies have involved themselves in eating and playing,,,
other than that,,try offering her fresh, put in some cardamom or try offering her lassi(thick curd plus water) and add in 1-2 vanilla extract or fresh vanilla beans if you have,,offer in sippy cup,,to give it that way,,if that all it works !!
be prepared to clean mess during self feeding,,
good luck

Hi there,

That was the problem even wid my daugter who is now 14 mo s +. What worked wid me is ... I used to give her two spoon curd in a bowl & made her sit in her high chair whenever we r eating our meals. She used to dip her fingures in & lick... & continued like that. When she really developed her taste for curd she wanted me to give it to her wid spoon. & Now she likes it:).
But u have to b patient... just pose as if u r busy eating ur meal & r not wathching her.Make sure u wash her hands nicely befor that.Try That...
May b this helps u ttoo.
All the Best

Subject:  try different levels of sourness

Hi,

We had the same problem with my son who's now 15 mos old. We kept giving different levels of sourness and realized that he really preferred just set curd which is not too sour. So the best thing is to set curd in morning if you are planning to giv it around noon. ( applicable if you're in India. In US or elsewhere, I don't know if it wud set ) .

Another thing is the ayurvedic doc I go to said not to give with sugar ;-( . but I am still gving with sugar. You can try adding pureed fruits if your baby likes - strawbnerries, mangoes etc.
