Day in and day out we parents are being bombarded with articles on children's confidence,self esteem etc etc..Most of them tell us parents to refrain from scolding,using harsh words,spanking and so on..I want to ask other parents how far do they go in following these theories?I have 2 well-behaved children yet I end up blaming myself for all their short-comings like night-wetness,fear of dark,shyness etc.I try to be firm without scolding but sometimes end up snapping at them on a rough day and I end up feeling guilty thru the next day though I am careful enough to hide it.Sometimes when my friends boast about their children's abilities,I end up worrying if I am not doing enough for them.Do other parents also feel this way or am I out of the blue? nancy replied. I put my daughter(d) in the best of day care pinching my pockets bcoz I got tired of my servants, then the change that my d started learning eng lang the best one we parents feel proud of. Then I put her in the best of schools now what. She has turned out to be very delicate, very sophisticated. Others are bullying her, teacher is shouting at her. She is not able to take it.
Now I wish I had put her in the simple care of a servant only atleast she would have been bold, learnt dirty habits and learnt snatching atleast she would be bold.
Really these things of mannerism dont work everywhere bcoz even teachers show illmannerism. Like her teacher said if you dont do homework dont come to school, today she was reluctant to go to school. She said to me, how can I go if teacher has asked me not to come? Imagine she is only 3 yrs old.
Besides good ethics it is imp. that we teach our child survival of the fittest. How to do that if anyone can help.
