5-6 monthsBreast milk: on demand
OR
Iron-fortified formula: 4'5 feedings of 6-8 ounces each...
4-6 months Infant cereal( in case your dr has adviced to start solids): 4-8 tablespoons, mixed with formula or bm.
Infant juice: 2-4 ounces (to - cup, from cup only) not the 100% juice, but the 1part of juice:4-5 parts of water. please note to give juices only of those fruits that you have introduced.
Six months Meat: 1-2 tablespoons or ne source of proteins like dals etc,,which m sure he is getting enough thru foods like khichadi.
avoid giving suji, at 6months, best time for your baby to get maximum benefit from ne wheat related products or byproducts are 9months.
horlicks and other milk pwders are adviced to give at 15months and onwards..they have malt thats very heavy at this point of time.
start introducing your baby variety of single grain cereals like oatmeal, barley and millet..if not found, cook the respective grain in pressure cook and throw some vegies or fruits with it.
by the time your baby comes to 9months your baby shouuld be able to graduate to al most all variety of fruits and vegies except citrus and gassy foods like potato,cauliflower.. once comfortable to all foods, include these.avoid giving toned milk or ne milk products until at the least 9-10months. give formula, go for iron fortified or if your baby is not taking it, try changing brand or the type like iron less or lactose free etc,,so that until your baby is 9-10months, atleast he will get good dose of nutrients that he is mising in bm..cows milk is not advisable, your baby might feel uncomfortable with it and might reduce the intake of solids..which you want to avoid..the key is to introduce a variety of single grains, fruits, vegies, and still keeping bm or formula as primary diet !
right now you baby is eating 5-6 tblsp, i find it pretty good ! also as far as you are keeping a min of 3 hours gap between solid feeds and formula or bm, he should be able to eat as mentioned in above chart or whatever he is eating is also good amt.
so that comes to a timetable of every 3-4hours, morning formula/bm-full feed, then after 3-4hours, solids/cereal with fruits, and then formula-half or 3/4th feed, and then vegetable serving with cereal or khichadi/dal rice with vegies,, and then after 3-4 hours, some formula or replace some diluted juice of fruit or vegie and finally after 3-4 hours(but before 3hours of sleep) one more serving of solid/cereal with some vegies(depending on how you started solids, and his consumption capacity)..and then before sleeping a full feed of formula.
try offering mini meals than trying to give 5-6tablespoons at a time,,key is to introduce more variety of nutrients than to give one time one type of food..also watch your baby liking, dislikes and his responses to ask for more solids or bm...do accordingly..
also make sure that during later afternoon onwards avoid giving fruits to your baby,,or give mild fruits like banana . or diluted juice of banna, apple.
so you know your baby cues nd responses to solids so you be the best judge,,his intake is good so i am not much worried.,,
if i were you, i will not be worried for my 6month old eating only 5-6tblsp.
good luck to you.

Subject: 6month old foods.
go for all the single grain cereals one by one, starting from rice, oatmeal and then barley and later millet.no wheat before 1 year or atleast 9months complete.
i would not recommend giving potato, instead give sweet potato.
watever you give, give it overboiled in pressure cooker or overcooked and fine puree form.
in fruits start with apple, pear, peaches(if they are overriped, boiling is not required but its recommended to be on safe side), all pressure cooked, pureed, seived thru thin mesh, to obtain smooth & fine puree.
also same with vegetables as well, add in carrots, green beans, green peas, lauki, spinach,
after all this, give cauliflower, brocolli, potato in the last lines.
banana does not require cooking, but make sure it is an overriped banana and nicely mashed..please note that pressure cooked banana or boiled banana loses iron and imp calories that your baby needs right now.over riped banana is just right for starters and later on you can graduate them to regular ripen fruits.
by the time your baby is 9months come to a point that he is eating atleast 5 diff colour fruits and 5 diff colour vegies, which means introducing & including a variety of these fresh produce every week. watch for allergies, stomach upset, and constipations..
also, add in once you give all this, then only start with potatp, cauliflower, brocolli, berries and melons,or ne squash and last comes in the line are the citrus fruits.
no salt, or sugar is required at introducing solids, until your baby is able to eat them without ne fuss...
also no 100% juice is required for babies below 1 year,,if at all ne signs of constipation seen, give diluted juice in proportion of 1freshjuice:4water for 6months old and give it with cereal and not seperately.
good luck !

check this,,it will help.please note the infant juice means diluted juice which means that whatever fruits you have introduced, add in water to it and give that juice, and NOT THE 100% JUICE. this guideline is recommended by aap & its not neccessary that all babies are able to eat in that food range. this is to give us idea as to how much can a baby eat on an average and how much he needs at this age.

select the whole link with left click of mouse, starting from http until the end where it completes on word feeding.
once selected, right click and you will see menu wherein copy is there,
so copy the whole link,
open the new webpage, and with right click paste the link on the address bar of the internet explorer and REMOVE ONLY THE BRACKETS() from the link(BRACKETS ARE NOT THE PART OF LINK)
and finally, click enter or GO button,,
i do this to avoid repetition of messages with same cases and this site does not allow email addresses and links on the webpage..
Hope this is understood.
