Is it true that breast fed babies don't take cereal(solids) with interest than formula fed babies. My cousin says so. My son is breast fed and he fusses a lot to eat solids. Did any one of u feel the same?

Hi Vasu
I think, by reading my previous post it appears that it was very easy & simple to get my dd hooked to solid. No it was not. There were more times of rejection from her frustation for me in the begining & still some especially when we start something new. But I was not very rigid & conventional. I did what I got cue from her. Like she rejected veg. in begining & I stoped & kept giving fruits & reintroduced veg recently. In fruits also she liked only banana, apple & pears. So I was hooked to these only.In cereals also I was rested to oatmeal & when I found her liking for salt I stared giving DALIA(wheat germs+moong daal)& pureed it with little salt & butter. later on I added some veg. like carrot/ cabbage/ cauliflower to it like regular khichdi(rice+moon daal). When ever she rejected any food I always stooped that for a while & retried it afeter 5-6 days. So it was a long way & a persistent effort.
Best of Luck

Hi
I don't think so. Atleast that was not the case with my dd.I started giving cereals(solid) at 4th month. She took it very comfortably. Previously she was solely on breast milk & it was getting tough to satisfy her & my Doc. said she was ready for solids. We started very slowly. Two times a day .. morning-evening. Morning cereals & evening fruits/veg (readymade) & that also with one-two teaspoon at a time for a week then depending upon her interest we kept increasing the quantity till it reached what what Doc has suggested.
Things really changed when I started giving her indian food like khichdi, upma, veg etc because she got the taste of salt. I started Indian food quite late like when she was 8 month old as I had to go to India in between & i wanted to give her readymade till she returns back as I wanted to avoid india's water & stuff.I could see her preference for these things as readymade food for babies & cereals in formula is very tasteless. (I have tasted them). I didn't force her as i wanted my baby to adopt my food by the time she is 1&1/2 years old. Right now she is 15mo & totally on Idian food although most of them in mashed state.
All the Best
