Feeding:Please help - some questions

Hi Hetal & others,

I have some questions regarding my 22 month old baby girl

1) I am south Indian and whenever i make vegetable curry (cabbage curry, cauliflower-peas curry, brocolli peas curry) i just put 1 tbspoon in to a plate and give my daughter and she just eats the peas and not the vegetable. Otherwise when i puree carrot, spinach, beetroot individually and add to dhal and rice mixture for lunch she eats it. But i want her to eat our vegetable curry slowly. How do i intriduce vegtables to her?

2) she talks in just 1 word like mama, paapa, thatha papa, etc. she says around 15 words. How do i imrpove her language development?

3) i need help with pasta for my daughter. I bought durum wheat pasta (yellow colour and corkscrew shape) and never made pasta before. Please post recipes or point to links.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Priya
My son now 26 months, also used to do the same. But I put vegs in his pasta. First boil pasta for 4-6 min. You may check if it is cooked well for ur daughter to eat. Then drain the water. On the other side, take little oil in a pan , put the cut vegs and let it be shallo-fried , put some spices whatever u like and let it be cooked. then mix pasta with vegs. You can use all the vegs in it. But make sure to cook well. I make this for my some. And he eats this very well.
2. You can use grated vegs while preparing dosa or Uttapum or omlette if you eat eggs.

3. You can make veg parantha.
I hope she likes it

For talking,

Speak slowly giving pressure at each sentence with her. No problem if she is not speaking but you continue like this i.e. speaking slowly and pressing at each sentence. Children store everything in their vacublary , u never know when they pick up the things. sing rhymes for her.
My son , sometime I am surprised that from where did he listen this or that when he speaks some sentence to me.
I hope this all will help.
