Hetal replied. hi, did u start lactose free just because of gas or she was extremely colicky or had developed rashes.if so, get some test done, ask your dr about if.
since your dr said you can start cows milk then it means then she is not lactose intolerant. is she able to eat cheese, ghee or ne other form of milk, or yogurt.
if you are going for 4 months to india, take good stock with you and after coming here start her on cows milk here so that ne consequences shall arise you are able to contact your ped directly rather than hunting for a good one in india. also, there is just a matter of 2months,,its ok for baby to start cows milk abit late. no probs. please check for formula that are available in market that are for babies above 12months, and are usually recommended by dr to those babies who had shown sensitivity to milk and even pediasure(available in major ciities including b'lore, mumbai, chennai),and they were given formula upto their 2 years of age..
on the brand it will be written formula for older toddlers ? so check for that age group, above 12months-24months, and in some brand it might be 12-36months,,depends..
also, you can ask your dr if you can start these toddler formula from now itself and then take that to india, so that in that 4months, you dont have to worry about any transition to ne formula or milk..
once back, start cows milk, give it a try..many babies esp indian/asian babies outgrow their allergies to milk or wheat in later part of toddler lives !
good luck and have a happy journey
