Behavioural Problems:Confused - Opinion needed please!!

Name: Confused Mom Hi All, I am a mother 2 kids - A daughter and a son, my son will soon be a 4 yr old. Well I should thank God for giving me 2 intelligent kids (with some repents, complaints...which is always there with everyone and I am pretty confident that I cam work on it!)... The only issue which bothers me more now is, my son becoming a Left handed kid!! Regardsless of how many ever times I remind him about using his Right hand he uses it for a min. or two and then automatically the Left comes over Right.

I know there isn' t anything wrong in being a Left handy, but still I' m worried him to be different and feel what are the disadvantages he will be facing when he becomes older. I really want him to use his Right hand for Eating and Writing.. Out of all the worries, the top one was I heard some one saying that the Left handed person lives in an average 9 years lesser than a Right handed person would live. IS it TRUE?!! Please friends, let me know what do you all think?!

Here is my story: When I was a kid I was left handed. And somehow in India this was not acceptable. So they forced me into being right handed. Now I cannot write, draw properly. I am artistically challanged. I am an engineer at a fortune 500 company in USA with decent position but my hand writing is worse than my six year old daughter. People laugh at my handwriting all the time. I cannot even sign like an adult. My signature can be copied easily. I am glad computers were invented so that I do not have to write as much with pen and paper. This is very pathetic. God made me a left handed person but my parents forced me to be right handed now I am neither. People in India listen to others too much and most of the people are not shy about giving their opinions even without being asked for an opinion. I' d use my head and leave the kid alone.

Please listen to me carefully. Leave your child alone being left handed. Like you said there is nothing wrong with being left handed.

Left Vs. Right Hand

Dear Friend,
I really appreciate your quick reply and opinion on this. I feel a lot less confused now.
I know the different opinions you hear (though you dont want from people)really puts you thru an unwanted situation and that´ s exactly what I was going thru too.
In fact my husband too said its alright and asked me not to bother him to change his writing style.But that one thing I heard was bothering me too much. (you know a mom´ s mind) Plus I was worried about the everyday situations/challenges in life for him to face..
But after reading your words, I decided that I won´ t make it hard for my little one anymore! Thanks a lot Jitendra.
