hi, try rice grain pastas(ingrediants will have rice flour and 2 other ingrediants),,,

i know meijer;have lived in MI for almost 9months,,its a very nice store,,should be available.i know its hard to find tiny viny packs in the whole lot,,but sometimes you get it.

if you are really willing to give single grain pastas,,also look for it at nino salvigno(not sure of exact spelling, but its an international market),
other than look for farmers jack, krogers, sometimes walmart neighbourhood/supercenter keeps it too;but they are fast moving products,,so i too sometimes have to see the store space empty, when it comes to wholegrain !
they too have variety of pastas available.look at your convinience/budget,,,,,

its ok if you are not able to get it,,dont run,try the durum wheat ones when you introduce wheat to your baby ! nevermind,,let him digest pastas abit late.
give your baby rice full of vegetables and an extra floret of brocolli & spinach for a boost of iron ! add in a ghee for required fat..
good luck

Hetal,

I gave mango desert to my baby & he liked it very much & he was normal after having it. He was not hyper active. I'll sure try to make mango at home.

I chked for single whole grain pastas & i didn't anything like that. Whats the name of the pasta. In which store do i get that. I live in Michigan & i chked in Meijer. The only thing i could find was durum wheat & semolina pastas.

Thanks,

if its not mentioned egg yolks, i will give to my baby. also, wanted to share that sugar is mentioned therein,,after givin this dessert watch for his activity level..sugar often makes them get hyperactive. when you feel its making him overactive than his body can stand, it means its not right for him. hope you got my point.
why dont you make your own, make a fresh mango pulp(often will have fibres), seive it thru mesh/or cheese cloth, add some mashed banana until it becomes abit sweet, and you are good to go. you dont need ne citric acid, ne starch for your baby !

yeah crush overcooked pastas with vegies in mixie, just pulse, add some water or cheese..but make sure you dont pulse it more,it will stick otherwise., and give that, its a whole meal.
your baby is 8months, try to introduce a couple lumps in his foods, see how he reacts. if fine, go further or be on same consistency depending on his reactions.
i will not recommend you giving wheat pastas to your 8month old baby. i told that in prev message, give only if you are giving. because i have heard of mothers starting with mixed cereals (contains wheat) and cracked wheat porridge to their 8months old.

generally whole wheat products or cows milk are not recommended by american board of pediatrics until your baby is 1 year..but we indian often start with wheat, cows milk,by 10mnths-11months itself..however its individual interest and family habits upon which everyone decides..
so you decide whats right for your baby right now,,i would say wait until your baby completes 9months then start mixed cereal that contains wheat see him for 1 month,,, if ok with that, start one by one, weekly basis, other products like cracked wheat, and then wheat pastas,a piece of roti soaked in dal..

good luck

Dear hetal,

Thanks a ton for ur reply & ur recipe.

Regarding mango desert, no eggyolk is mentioned inthe ingredients & it contains - mango, sugar, tapio starch, citric acid thats. so can i givethat to my baby.

Regarding pasta will def try both of them & see which comes out best for me. My baby has not graduated to finger foods so i have to crush it in the blender. Can i give wheat to 8month baby?

thanks,
ritu.

most of gerber stage 2 desserts contains egg yolks,,at 8mnths dont give that. not advisable.try giving after a month, and always watch for allergies or uneasiness in digestion.

about pasta, use the single whole grain pasta, available in any stores, like rice pasta.thats the most commonly available and at 8months, if you are giving wheat, then only go for wheat pastas or durum wheat pastas. never go for semolina or enriched flour pastas.
there are 2 ways to make pasta. one like directed on packet,,boil the water, put pastas, saute vegies with watever seasonings u have introduced with a little dash of olive oil, and mix with boiled pastas..
he other is the one that i tried. see whatever comes out good for you.practise at your convinience.
i dont have patience to wait until water boils,& spoil a seperate vessel to saute vegetables,,,so i would put pastas in cooker, with watever vegies you introduced, and add salt(if you have introduced), add italian seasonings (if you have introduced), add some parsley flakes, or corainder leaves for a nice aroma..put good water, 1 inch more than the amt of water that soaks pastas well..and then just whistle it upto 5-6times..its all done for you.
at 8month complete, its ok to start with hard cheese or sharp cheeses,,try parmasan, colby jack, sharp cheddar..add in to pasta, and give it.

if your baby has not graduated to texture like finger foods/pastas, crush those pastas with fork or in blender with the consistency that your baby eats and you are good to go ! its very healthy and a full meal :)

good luck

give ne cheese that doesnt contain renett which is an animal fat. always go for cheese that has natural fat derived from vegetables or just culture,,but not animal fat ! in india, amul cheddar is good to give, in US, sharp cheddar, colby jack, american cheese, is good to give to babies under 2 years or in your case also for 8months completed age.,,there shoudnt be more than 3 ingrediants in it, milk, salt, natural enzymes or natural colour with enzymes.
also, parmasean cheese is best in taste and flavour and has just the right amt of calcium babies need ! add in all the foods you gvie !
take ne type of pastas, mostly try multigrain or whole grain or mixed grain pastas depending on what you have introduced so far,, then the ones with semolina as its ingrediant..
