sry about late reply, couldnt make it up.
here is your query dated 27th july.

your baby should be drinking in total of 5-6feedings of 4-7oz each, as far as formula is concerned.
and about bm/bf,its 5-6feeds or on demand (fullfeeds or half feeds).

since you recently started giving formula, its a new taste for baby and will take time(abt a month) to accept it. also being new food,, it takes time for their apetite to digest it,(try mixing bm and formula for easy acceptance),and they feel full with the same amt of formula instd of bm.so wait until your baby gets used to it.around a month, if still continues same, talk to your dr.you might be advised for a diff brand,,sometimes babies taste differ from brand aswell.

also, spitting bm or formula is very common upto 3-4months of their life.so i dont see any concerns, unless he is vomitting or crying/feeling uncomfortable or is gassy/colicky & spitting out.

also, the feeding position that you mentioned is a sleeping position of bf which is not advisable. i understand that some mothers feel comfortable that way, even i felt rested in that, but its not advisable..have a pillow below your babys' head and make him feed from you or bottle..the reason being this will prevent babies from controlling the liquid flow due to elevation, and the baby eustachian tube doesnt get blocked or remains free of any fluids or bacteria build up.(this tub connects middle ear to the back of the nose & throat and when baby drinks milk, any fluid that enters thru the mouth, passes quickly thru this tube,if baby is not elevated there are 90% chances that fluid will start buildiing up in that tube, finally resulting to an ear infection),,,
so basically sleeping while feeding your baby is not recommended by most dr, unless otherwise mother had to go for surgery below stomach area or an emergency csection with vertical cut & cant hold baby for feeding in her lap or even try football position.
so basically the habit that you have cultivated right now, needs to be corrected !
babies like always free flow of liquids as they dont have to work sucking or struggle to drink milk,,its alot available..so they will always love it that way !
so try avoid these positions where the baby is sleeping while feeding either by bf,by bottle or even sippy cup,,also applies while eating, in future.
now about bottles and nipples,Make sure the nipple is the right size if you are bottle-feeding. If the nipple is too large or is of high level flow, it will make your baby eat/drink too fast; if it's too small, it will cause your baby to gulp more air than liquid.and due to that sometimes babies resist in drinking from bottle as well. so look at your baby sucking force and judge the level of nipple he needs. try wide mouth bottles,,they mosly have nipples that look familiar to babies to mothers breast and babies often accept them.. they too come in diff level of nipples, mostly level 1 is for babies upto 3months,,and so on,though depneds on brand,,check on it.
even though your baby resist in drinking milk in any other position, this is not a proper position, and this habit will become a cause of ear infections very often ! avoid that from now itself,,right now he is 2.5months, he will still take 1-2months to understand and demand for things,,right now you can tame him the way you like, with little efforts than you will have to put on later & avoid bad habits of feeding,,
so always feed your baby elevated, and make sure the liquid flow is appropriate for your baby & always consult your dr if your baby is uncomfortable with formula intake, he might make you change the brand or type of formula.

good luck & take care.
