Feeding:Please suggest

Hello All,
PLease suggest a feeding schedule for my 6.5 month baby. I stay in Bharain. I have exclusively BF her for 6 months. Now i have started giving her fruits. I have already introduced apple, banana, peaches, pear. Intially i used to just give fruit once a day and rest all feeds were BM. Now from last week i have introduced rice, oat and ragi.
I read in the last message of Hetal that Ragi is heavy, is it so?? that means should i stop giving my baby ragi anymore.

so as of today i give her two upper feedings (ie one of fruits and other of cereals)one in morning and other in evening.

Can you all suggest me as to how can i start a proper schedule and what all can i include in this.

As of now i planned to increase the number of meals in every 15 days.

Please suggest

Regards
Ruchi

Hi mom...
Ya bahrain is a lovely place.... Whats your name ??? and where are you from?? Let me know ur friends....I will try to contact them and may be v can be helpfull to each other sometimes:). Atleast i will increase my known list here :))...

Ya i give ragi boiled in water and then put in some milk and jaggery...
Now a days since i came to know that it is heavy i generally mix either oat, suji or rice with it....
As i am giving my dd meal only at night time.. so may be ragi be more heavy to digest:)
Let me know what other recipes can i include for around 7 month kido..

regards
ruchi.

arpita has given you better explanation of raagi than i could give.arpita, you belong to south india ?

about 6.5months schedule, i have just mentioned in one of the post to trisha and shyla about 7months schedule,so you might find it helpful. its matter of 15 days, the difference will be of 1 oz in liquids and 1tblsp in solids !
and anyways your baby wil enter 7th month very shortly,,so he will demand for 7month schedule gradually.

good luck

hey hetal, i belong from mumbai, but my mil belongs from bangalore. i know in north there is not much use of raagi. i too came to know because of mother in law.
hetal, where are you from ? most of your suggested things are from US and i heard most of your suggested brands of medicinees and foods like pediasure etc from my sister too. she is in US, in detroit.
i read you are on your way to 2nd baby, congrats. and hats off to you for your wonderful work. you have been a great help to everyone. i appreciate that of you being that kind hearted.
do write me i will wait for your reply.

hi,
about ragi, its true its hard to digest & its heavy, thats why we give it very little. you will observe that the amt of ragi we use is almost 1/4th of amt we give to that of rice cereal to our babies. i remember my mom telling me that eat a raggi ladu and you will not feel hungry thru out the day.and she used to make us eat in the morning snack. its a farmers diet in south india and farmers eat this alot so that they can work hard and dont get hungry often.and now this african millet has been part of diet of everyone, even in US.

if your baby is not havin probs with digestion and is ok with raagi, why you want to stop it.its very good to give raagi.
i think hetal has also told somewhere that raagi in itself is lowfat & high in iron & very good to give for good health of babies but when given with ghee it has proved heavy.and often we give raagi in form of raagi malt or raagi halwa with ghee.i just read her some post.and she has also mentioned that it depends on babies apetite & quantity about any food.
if you are giving it in proper amt there is no harm i think. my baby was feeling stomach upset with raagi at 4month even though we were willing to start her solids with raagi like we do in india,we had to stop. she was ok with raagi after 6 months and did not face any digestion problem thenonwards. so i definately believe that it depends on babies too.

introduce more vegetables and fruits in baby diet.about schedule, i will not be of much help to you, as my baby is of same age and i am myself looking forward to get a good one.
but i started my baby with khichadi with vegetables i introduced, added some ghee and she gulps it :). see if that helps.
